Proposition 6, which would have repealed an increase in Californias gas tax, failed to win the majority vote needed for passage on Tuesday after Gov. Jerry Brown warned it would halt urgent repairs to the states crumbling roads and bridges.
Brown, who leaves office in January, said after the first vote tallies were announced that it was important that the initiative be defeated for the future of the state.
This is one of the most significant votes in America tonight, because where else have people voted to tax themselves to pay for what they need? Brown said to cheers at a Sacramento election watch party thrown by the initiatives opponents.
People know that you get what you pay for, he added. The people knew that the flim-flam of the yes people were exposed. When this Trump recession comes were going to have $5 billion going to transit and roads and bridges in California.

My state is a sh*thole..LITERALLY..just elected a Governor who is all good with people taking craps on streets..at least Prop 10 failed, my Mom is a property owner, would have been HORRIBLE had the Govt been allowed to determine how much rent she was allowed to ask for
They do love the feel of a large government hand in their pocket.
The main reason I voted yesterday. Insanity rules in California.
And they moveand try and push this crap in other states.
Geesh, how can people be this darned stupid??????
Pelosi and the DemoKKKrats own the coming recession.
When this Pelosi recession comes...
No, our voters are just really lazy and stupid. The attorney general and Secretary of State conspired to give it a misleading and summary, and the nitwits fell for it
Spanish language stations told their listeners the tax pays for cool free stuff.
Title and summary
Hope they enjoy their taxes and fees being used to scoop up human feces, while nasty diseases are being spread in the community.
As long as those California dildoes don’t mind paying higher gas taxes, I”m okay with it.
I live and vote in California, and am deeply disappointed in this ballot result. Deeply. Disappointed.
On my California ballot I was was about 2 - 30 (not counting judges)...not a bad day in this hard - alt-left “utopia”. Colorado or Arizona ?
And your roads and bridges are crumbling now and they will continue to crumble no matter how much money taxes bring in.
Pensions need to be paid. Your state’s revenues are all about paying for loyalty, not about fixing your infrastructure.
When I explained to a liberal acquaintance (who was a big supporter of having this proposition fail) that I would respond by cutting some expenses elsewhere to compensate, as in my dining and entertainment expenditures, he was apoplectic I plan to do so...”But...you are hurting the little guy by doing this!”
Oh brother...
SO... the voters of California rejected the repeal of state gas tax and vehicle fee increase due to fears over a deterioration of the roads.
This means that the STATE was already getting money from the gas tax and vehicle fees. What did they do with that money if the streets STILL need to be fixed?
Easy to understand. Illegals and hard core communists criminals own this State.
I live in a state full of complete morons. Half the people in this state can’t afford to run their cars let alone pay the ridiculous registration fee. So, they steal the stickers off of other peoples cars. Need to get away from using the stickers and simply have a scannable license plate. Many people are removing their rear plates with the sticker and placing them in the inside of their vehicle in the rear window. Total madness. If my children were not here I would have moved to Idaho or Wyoming long ago.
