Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) is the projected winner in Montana, surviving a race that tightened in the final weeks amid heavy campaigning by President Trump and his eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr.
Tester, a third-generation farmer from north central Montana, ran on his record and did not invite any prominent Democratic politicians to campaign for him in an effort to keep the focus on him and his opponent, Matt Rosendale, a Maryland transplant who moved to the state in 2002.

My nephew lives in Seattle.
He has a lot of friends there.....from Montana.
I have two questions about this race;
1. Did the NRSC put money into this race? I keep hearing the ad war was ridiculously lop-sided.
2. Did Rep Ryan Zinke say or indicate that he would not challenge Tester before Trump picked him for Interior Secretary? I thought Trump’s choice of Zinke was a bad one for that reason alone, because it deprived the GOP of the most obvious challenger for Testrry. I know it didn’t work out in 2012 for then Rep Rehberg, maybe Zinke would have done better.

AMEN to that. It appears that the POS libertarian in this race pretty much helped Tester win. I'm REALLY sick of this happening in so many races. The GOP needs to recruit some Green Party candidates behind the scenes or something....
It seems the only "safe" conservative states in the west now are Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Am I wrong??

Yeeeesssss! I have been yelling about this for decades...President Reagan said it best when he claimed that the best example of the failure of socialism is the Indian (with feathers, not dots) reservation system.
For this he was widely criticized.
Turn over all land currently occupied by Indians to the occupying individuals, can the BIA, and tax casinos and smoke shops just like every other business.
No more reservations and socialist handouts.
Probably out-of-state students who also voted in their home state.

Not all women, but I agree with you for the most part. There are a few women in which estrogen has not taken over their brain but are few and far between. I am one of those women, have no real women friends, enjoy logic and prefer working with men. I find women catty and illogical in the workplace.
When the money runs out, because their husband has lost his job due to socialist policies, that’s when such women abandon their husbands in search of the next poor sucker they can screw over.

Trump & Jr. did all they could to defeat Tester. ^sigh*
3rd party got at least 13,00 votes and Tester won by less than 5000.
There are rumors of voter fraud on Indian Reservations too.
