How the Midterms Made Us Feel: Afraid, Then Upset
The New York Times ^ | November 7, 2018 | Sahil Chinoy, Jessia Ma and Ash Ngu

Posted on 11/07/2018 5:10:19 AM PST by JOHN ADAMS

Across the country, readers were first anxious, as storms along the Eastern Seaboard threatened to depress turnout and long lines at polling places frustrated voters. As the first results were reported around 6 p.m. Eastern time, anxiety crested and the mood began to shift. Some ended the night angry. Others seemed happy. Few, however, seemed to be laughing at any point during the day.

No need to read the whole thing. I just thought Freepers should know that NYTimes readers are still wetting their pants this morning. If they're crying, we can safely laugh.

Why are they upset or wetting themselves?

Because the Left lost the most important battle to them.
The Supreme Court for the next 20 years.
RBG is gone.

They really are crazy. They scored a win and they’re still whining.

It is, in fact, less of a win than they’d have gotten normally. Trump continues to outperform the trend in that respect. But still.

I’d hate to see how they would react when the rotten, corrupt system that was to provide a free lunch to everyone (even after being spread into red state areas through carpet bagger type voters from the northeast) really does collapse under it’s own weight and corruption and contradictions. This is presently happening in places like Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and elsewhere in the EU and in turn that is not dissimilar from what happened in the former Soviet Union and East Bloc. And it is already taking place in New York or Illinois or California or Connecticut, etc.

Over a billion dollars expended by the Dems in this midterm and what did they gain? Pelosi and company are now a big beautiful target for President Trump. It would have been poor form to attack Ryan and his RINOs. Pelosi is pretty much a female Paul Ryan from the opposition team.

The poohbahs of the left keep their charges in a constant state of fear. It makes them pliant.

Normal human nature going back +2000 years:

EVERY TIME you get people in a group, send in a few evil agitators, they will fight and shout to the death, “GIVE US BARABAS!!”

Every major city: “Give us Barabas! (socialists). Evil agitators (MSM)

The people who scream loudest demanding “democracy” are afraid and upset when elections happen and don’t accept the results that don’t go the way they want.

Conservatives organize for political change when we lose (e.g. the tea party). Republican elite needs to react even if it happens slowly.

The left organizes for protest, resistance, incivility, and emotional support. Democrat elite uses them as tools to create division in the country. And abuses their emotional state to convince them to move further left and harass “non-believers” to join the movement and harass conservatives into silence. History has many examples of this dynamic between elite rulers and “democratic” supporters.

Well, there probably won’t be lots of images of weepy Leftiets, sad to say, but the normal successes of the party out of the White House were tempered. It was observed that it seemed like Republicans who proverbially ran from Trump didn’t do as well as those he stumped for.

They should be wetting their pants.

Despite winning the House, it should be pretty clear to the democrats who actually have brains how many of us didn’t buy their bullshit, and know what they’ve done just to win a plurality.

This is not Bush’s Republican Party.

“Why are they upset or wetting themselves?”

Guilty consciences? Acting out but insecure about their feelings. It is at night in the quiet-time when they start to question their motives, and wonder if there is a God who loves them, and whether or not they might be possessed by demonic spirits.

"They really are crazy. They scored a win and they’re still whining."

I don't know that they won. The did worse in an off year election than the party out of power usually does. Much worse. And we increased our lead in the senate thus increasing the chances of confirming yet another conservative Justice when Ginsburg is gone. It wasn't like the Republican House was doing anything for us. The only downside is we'll see and hear constantly about a bunch of new anti-Trump investigations.

You’re right that their win should’ve been bigger and wasn’t because of Trump. Still House control is a win even if expected.

They’d be smart to dial back the crazies for a while but they won’t. They can’t help themselves.

Crazies have taken over the Dem parry.

We had a lot of Never Trumpers shown the exit door.

Saving Senate was key for judiciary. Lot of important governorships.

A mixed night but given the history of midterms this was a big Trump win.
Wish it’d been bigger.

might be the only downside, but it is a major downside...

As a conservative, I’m not emboldened by last night’s showing. We won by narrow margins in a lot of places. A presidential election year will turn out the psychos in much larger numbers. I’m genuinely concerned for our republic in the next decade.
