UPDATE: Fox News provided Townhall the following statement:
“FOX News does not condone any talent participating in campaign events. We have an extraordinary team of journalists helming our coverage tonight and we are extremely proud of their work. This was an unfortunate distraction and has been addressed.”
UPDATE: Hannity defends his onstage appearance at the Trump rally.
What I said in my tweet yesterday was 100% truthful. When the POTUS invited me on stage to give a few remarks last night, I was surprised, yet honored by the president’s request. This was NOT planned.— Sean Hannity (@seanhannity) November 6, 2018
ORIGINAL POST
Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro were guests at President Trump's rally in Missouri Monday night for Republican Senate candidate Josh Hawley. When Hannity took the stage, he delighted the crowd by calling the reporters in the back of the room "fake news."
It was especially surprising because earlier in the day Hannity said he would not be campaigning with the president, CNN noted.
In spite of reports, I will be doing a live show from Cape Girardeau and interviewing President Trump before the rally. To be clear, I will not be on stage campaigning with the President. I am covering final rally for my show. Something I have done in every election in the past.— Sean Hannity (@seanhannity) November 5, 2018
Trump called Pirro to join him onstage too, and she in turn encouraged the room full of Trump supporters to channel their energy into voting.
"If you like the America" that Trump is making, she said, "you’ve got to make sure you get out there tomorrow if you haven’t voted yet."
Their appearances caused CNN to question Fox's credibility.
“They know, vaguely, that they’re not supposed to have one of their hosts endorse a candidate or a party,” CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota said. “But Sean Hannity can't help himself.
"Theyre having a schizophrenic moment over there trying to figure out what their role over there is supposed to be with the Trump presidency, she added.
Camerota went on to pose a hypothetical, suggesting that if her fellow anchor Don Lemon had joined one of the Democrats at a campaign rally, he would not have emerged unscathed.
"Can you imagine Don Lemon campaigning for Stacey Abrams? Camerota asked. Don Lemon being able to take the podium?
I mean, when people say that theres no difference and when Fox tries to consider itself a news organization, they have some complications at moments like this.
Following the campaign event, Hannity said he had "no idea" the president was going to call him onstage.
In Before the I Know Karate, Sean Hannity.
Ha. Hahahahaha. BWA HAHAHAHA.
They are longtime personal friends, so CNN can suck on it.
They can’t tell me that no one at CNN ever showed up at a Dem event. Wasn’t Wolf photographed drinking wine at a Hillary rally?
Mobs? DONT CALL THEM MOBS!!! And CNN is questioning FoxNews???
Sean Hannity is not a news reporter. His show is all about opinion. What do they expect? Who would be shocked in Don Lemon had shown up at a Hillary rally?
Fake news. Fake credibility.
The implication being that Fox should hire people as objective and non-partisan as CNN? Good one!
Did Hannity comment during his opening 1/2 hour on radio?
FOX is not totally Communist, all the time?
Fox News executives worried about integrity?
not worth the laugh
As if the people who work at CNN don’t make their far left views known to their viewers every single day. Every time they broadcast they are politicking for the left.
Well, neither are news reporters and I suspect they checked with management and their contract lawyers before showing up. So, don’t see how there would be a problem.
Why they ask? BFYTW.
Don Lemon. Don Lemon (born March 1, 1966) is an American journalist and author. He is a news anchor for CNN based in New York City, and hosts CNN Tonight.
Don Lemon Stands Up By Statement That White Men Are Biggest Terror Threat To The Country In Wake Of Hate Crimes
Missed it. After voting for all R party...
CNN shouldn’t be questioning anybody’s credibility.
