Ten simple changes to help save the planet
BBC "News" ^ | November 5, 2018 | By Diego Arguedas Ortiz

It’s settled science that climate change is real.

So we don’t need to ask whether climate change is happening – or whether humans are causing it. Instead, we need to ask: “what can we do?”

What can you do that will have the biggest impact? Here’s our guide.

1. What is the single most important thing humanity has to do in the coming years – and what does that mean for me?

The number one goal? Limiting the use of fossil fuels such as oil, carbon and natural gas and replacing them with renewable and cleaner sources of energy

3. Other than that, what’s the best daily action I can take?

One 2017 study co-authored by Lund University’s Nicholas ranked 148 individual actions on climate change according to their impact. Going car-free was the number-one most effective action an individual could take (except not having kids – but more on that on that later). Cars are more polluting compared to other means of transportation like walking, biking or using public transport.

5. Could I make a difference by changing my diet?

That’s a big one, too. In fact, after fossil fuels, the food industry – and in particular the meat and dairy sector – is one of the most important contributors to climate change.

8. Should I think about how many children I have (or don’t have)?

Nicholas’s study concluded that having fewer children is the best way to reduce your contribution to climate change, with almost 60 tonnes of CO2 avoided per year. But this result has been contentious – and it leads to other questions.

One is whether you are responsible for children’s climate emissions, and the other is where are these babies born.

The problem is, people don’t want to save the planet or they’d be doing the stuff all along without someone telling them to do it.

All you have to do is look at the pictures of trash in third world country rivers and the trail of trash left by illegals as they enter the US.

Jesus can to save the planet in a whole different way and look what they did to Him.

People don’t want saving.

My philosophy is that I do what I can, what I’m responsible for, and that’s the best I can do.

“Suicide isn’t on there?”

Ditto. Lefties are abundant, and from what I witness they’re none too green, actually. Killing themselves would greatly help their climate cause.

They must join and actively participate in http://www.vhemt.org

(Odd that the website’s still active; someone must have stayed alive to pay the webhost...)

Here’s another: get all wackos to shut up. The hot air is really warming the atmosphere.

11) Shut-down the BBC. All of those powerful TV transmitters using up energy day and night for no good purpose just HAS to be wrecking havoc on the environment.

Translation: shut up and accept it. No dissent will be tolerated.

This piece uses so many phrases that have become punchlines I'm wondering if it isn't satire. But the BBC have forgotten what satire looks like.

1. I drive my car ONCE a week.

2. I boycott Leftists companies that p*ss me off.

3. Again, with the cars?

4. We use Natural Gas to run our home. Totally renewable.

5. Diet. We grow a HUGE garden, raise or hunt our own meat and fish.

6. Haven’t been on an airplane in over 20 years.

7. 90% of our clothing items are thrift-store finds.

8. I have no kids of my own, but raised three boys who were already born, LOL! (I guess I should’ve snuffed them out!)

9. I live ‘lighter’ than ANY of my friends/relatives.

10. Oh, I see. This is about redistributing MY wealth to someone else!

Well, screw you! ;)

Global warming fanatics believe that humans are nothing more than a genetic mutation that lives like a parasite on what otherwise would be a pristine planet. It’s no wonder they are filled with self loathing, hate others, and want to kill babies.

There were tropical rain forests and alligators in Alaska.

Thousands of years ago, hunters in what is now the Mongolian Gobi desert carved ostrich petroglyphs in cliffs. They weren't carving them from travel photos...

The big question that these people NEVER ask themselves:

1. Should I enlist in the VHEMT?

The problem is, people don’t want to save the planet or they’d be doing the stuff all along without someone telling them to do it.

BINGO! You don't see them giving up their cars, walking to work, wearing sackcloth, eating bugs and twigs, throwing away their AC and furnaces, giving up showering and cancelling their jet trips to ski resorts and Tahiti. Not one of them walks the talk except to purchase an occasional Prius.

They've been told what they need to do for 50 years, but none of them do it.

No one else needs to do anything. Nancy Pelosi has already said she is saving the planet.

Haven’t been on an airplane in over 20 years.

Don't worry, I'm trying to make it up for you. I'm on my third plane trip this year. Twice to CA and once to FL, so that's at least 24 hours in the air.

No need to thank me. :)

It’s settled science that climate change is real. So we don’t need to ask whether climate change is happening – or whether humans are causing it. Instead, we need to ask: “what can we do?”

If you had told me 40 years ago that a majority of scientists would say something so political and believe it within my lifetime, I would have laughed. Science is never "settled", and mathematical models are among the least trustworthy parts of science. A hundred years ago, Newton's laws of motion were as settled as real science gets - they're called "laws" for a reason - but questioning them was still perfectly okay. When Einstein questioned them, his theories were tested by observation, not shouted down because "the science is settled". It's hard to identify the one worst part of the left's evil, but tainting and politicizing science is among their worst actions.

Climate Change? Yes, it's (probably) been happening over the past 150 years. But is this natural warming due to the end of the Mini-Ice Age in the mid-1800s? Or is this something else? Even if we accept that the CO2 we release is a factor (not obvious!), are we responsible for 1% or 99% of climate change? If we act, can we stop 99% of the effects, or is the most effective response imaginable only going to stop 1% of the effects? What are the costs of acting? Those are real questions, all of which are being ignored in the name of the same Big Government response that was planned when they claimed we were entering an Ice Age.

“...Basically, become a vegetarian, don’t drive a car, live without air conditioning and keep your heat close to freezing in the winter. Oh, and don’t reproduce...”

I feel the need to modify based on my own experience.

1. Grow your own food, rely on sustainable foods and husbandry. Cook from scratch.

2. Drive what ever you need to. Bicycles included.

3. Condition your household climate to suit your budget.

4. Fill your house, dedicate yourself to your family and insure they grow to contribute to this great sovereign Constitutional Republic.

“Lost me on the first sentence - that said, plant trees in urban heat sink centers... and along interstates and city streets.”

I totally agree. With today’s technology we can easily estimate the number of trees on the planet, by species calculate the amount of carbon sequestered and come up with an estimated carbon sequestration amount. Then we take the amount of carbon produced (they already know this) and come up with a calculation. Based on that, figure out how many more trees need to be planted.

No magic here. But, if they want to tell us how to live, I suggest moving the Palis to Sinai, only use alternative fuels for vehicles, make every building solar, use desalination facilities to produce clean water and grow their own food. As a bonus, move the UN there so they can monitor the progress.

Then nuke the place from orbit, just to be sure.
