New NJ law would let Cory Booker run for president, Senate at same time

Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed a bill on Thursday that would allow Sen. Cory Booker (D), who has been widely seen as a possible 2020 presidential contender, to run for president and the Senate simultaneously.

The new bill would allow any U.S. senator or member of the U.S. House from the Garden State to appear on both the primary general election for their respective office in addition to the presidency, according to Politico.

The bill, N.J. A4674 (18R), reportedly states that “no provision of [New Jersey’s election law], or of any other law, rule, or regulation shall be interpreted as to prevent a person from accepting a nomination by petition” to run for the House or Senate in addition to president or vice president simultaneously.

Booker, who is up for reelection to the Senate in 2020, has been widely expected to make a bid for the presidency. The New Jersey Democrat has made visits to both Iowa and New Hampshire in recent weeks to support other Democratic candidates running for office in each state.

Booker has also indicated in recent interviews that he is weighing a run for the White House in 2020, saying in September that it would be "irresponsible" not to entertain the idea.

"Of course the presidency will be something I consider. It would be irresponsible not to," Booker said in a profile published in the New York magazine.

I can tell you right now, this guy is as sleazy as they come. My Father in Law used to be active in Newark politics and knew Booker well. The $hit that he will pull would boggle your mind.

He once had 67 people voting in his Ward, all registered to the same address which was like some 1 bedroom apartment. The fraud will be rampant.

There has never been a candidate who ran for president and another office at the same time. Vice-president, yes. Johnson, Bentsen, and Lieberman all did that.

If it was a Republican incumbent, changing the law would not even be on the table.

HIs Campaign Slogan: “Make America Newark!” Maybe though, even though it’s unconstitutional, it would be a good thing for Cory Crooker to run for both jobs, because as stupid as the NJ RAT voter is, he ( or she) might want to “choose” which job they would like for him and only vote for one or the other.
