The first 100 active-duty troops have arrived at the U.S.-Mexican border to provide support for Border Patrol agents as a caravan of migrants slowly makes its way northward from Central America, a Defense Department official told Fox News on Thursday evening.
The troops are doing initial assessments at the port of entry in McAllen, Texas. The official said there are about 2,600 troops now at staging bases, largely in Texas, with several thousand more expected to flow in through the weekend and move into California and Arizona.
The Pentagon said more than 7,000 active-duty troops are being sent to the southern border, with more possible. President Trump has said the number could reach 15,000.

Thank you, President Trump. Please have the troops stop the invasion before it hits American soil. Request about 100 yards of Mexican land on their side of the border to place our troops and shut down this invasion.
The only free sh*t we should give them would be thousands of pounds of stinky manure poured over the Mexican side of the fence.

Are these assessments for the purpose of erecting tents?
Exactly what will these troops do?
They’re not going to shoot the invaders and all an invader has to do is set a foot on this side of the border, surrender to the nearest soldier or border patrol and he’s in, lawyered up, fed, housed, clothed and taken care of.
There were hundreds of flag officers in the military command structure who "failed" his test and were "retired" on specious grounds. Is anyone reporting that Trump reinstated these officers? If not, we are looking at a castrated and neutered shell of what was once a military worthy of the name.
We are about to witness the true evil which Obama unleashed on America with his treasonous and seditious gutting of the military unanswered by either Congress or this President. This is not going to end well.
Relegating the U.S. military to carrying water for the Border Patrol with completely restrictive rules of engagement which tie the hands of our troops will be a public debacle of immense proportions, will further endanger those troops in the face of a large violent mob, and make us the laughing stock of the world, right on our own damned border.
