CNN President Jeff Zucker said his network's audience would dwindle if its news programming shifted away from covering President Trump.
In an interview published in the latest issue of Vanity Fair, Zucker said the reason why CNN spends much of the day reporting on Trump's day-to-day activities and his rhetoric stems from viewer demand.
“People say all the time, ‘Oh, I don’t want to talk about Trump, I’ve had too much Trump,’ ” Zucker told Vanity Fair. “And yet at the end of the day, all they want to do is talk about Trump."
"We’ve seen that anytime you break away from the Trump story and cover other events in this era, the audience goes away," he added. "So we know that, right now, Donald Trump dominates.”
Zucker said he wants CNN to be a home for both supporters and opponents of the president, despite harsh criticism of the news outlet from Trump and other Republicans.
“On MSNBC, you rarely hear from people who do support Trump," Zucker said. "We want to be home to both those points of view."
"It is true some of these folks are not very good with the facts, but that’s O.K. in the sense that it’s our job then to call them out," he added.
CNN is projected to report its most profitable year ever, a source familiar told Vanity Fair, though it lags behind both Fox News and MSNBC in average prime time viewership.
Trump frequently trashes CNN and its ratings, and has taken aim at Zucker in the past. The president wrote in August on Twitter that CNN's parent company should fire Zucker over CNN's ratings, which have improved significantly since Zucker took over.
"The hatred and extreme bias of me by @CNN has clouded their thinking and made them unable to function," Trump tweeted. "But actually, as I have always said, this has been going on for a long time. Little Jeff Z has done a terrible job, his ratings suck, & AT&T should fire him to save credibility!"
Trump is going to mention this in a speech. lol
Its worse than that. He is admitting that the only viewers they have left now are Trump haters, and if they stop bashing Trump, they will lose the hate audience as well.

What both people watching turn channels Sucker?
I only see CNN at airports and hotel lobbies. It seemed for about five months, every single time I saw their pathetic excuse for news, they were talking about the plane. Surely there’s been a plane crash they can concentrate on.
CNN really needs to have constant 24 hour live coverage screen showing all of the Flight Schedules and listing departure times, delayed flights, etc.
They will then have a lock on frequent flyers and most libs.
I realize different ‘leadership’ (or whatever one would call it) different but I seem to remember one of CNNs ‘stars’ PETER ARNETT in 1990 long about Desert Shield who basically admitted they would rather see American Troops ambushed than reveal certain info they had been given/getting from the Iraqis.
I passed that along in the same light that CNN reports most so called ‘news’....

CNN knows that when people actually hear PTrump speak, he is amazing. They cannot allow the sheeple to hear him, only the out-of-context to the point of altering the meaning sound bites that they choose to hammer.
We’re spoiled. Whoever our next President is, he’s going to seem sooo boring.
I am old enough to remember a time when you almost never heard from or seen the President. It was not until Watergate that the media discovered rating gold by following the President. Democrats were heros and Republicans were zero.
