2016 was such a disillusioning experience. Going into the election, I was so proud to be in this country at this moment, so proud to be voting for Hillary Clinton. I had my Clinton sweatshirt on all day. I was on Twitter telling people that if they didnt vote they were dead to me like the whole thing. Watching the results come in, it was just disheartening. My faith in the whole system was crushed pretty quickly. That was the first general election I could vote in, too...

In my senior year in high school, I was probably borderline socialist. Though I dont really think I understood what a socialist was. I was blatantly liberal and didnt bother to check myself. My friend gave me The Prince, by Machiavelli. I read that, and it provided a certain nuance that I didnt have. From there, I read more, and I realized that a lot of things Id thought before were wrong. I got into Hellenism. I read Cicero, Livy.....(blah, blah, blah) ...
... I never felt certain enough to vote.

I tried to register for the 2016 election, but it was beyond the deadline by the time I tried to do it. I hate mailing stuff; it gives me anxiety. I dont remember seeing voter-registration drives, no. Ive seen a lot more the past two years. Im sure there must have been stuff. I just dont remember it...

Thanks for posting this!
I made a similar point on another thread. I take heart in the fact that the Leftist voting base is made up of snowflakes who are too lazy to figure out how to vote and/or get to discouraged and give-up when things don’t turn out their way.
At least one kid admits he doesn’t know what the heck he is. It’s a start :)
As for me, I was too busy committing misdemeanors at that age to vote.
Ironic. Committing misdemeanors 30 years ago.
And now my body looks like a felony :(
” I hate mailing stuff; it gives me anxiety.”
Timmy calm down, take deep breaths.
You body looks like Tony Banks dog?
I may have to indulge in some more Election night Youtube videos.
They are always good for a laugh.
They don’t even know where to buy stamps, LOL!
If it’s a big fat dog, yes :)
I certainly hope so. Even makes you question which gender you are today.
Clearly it ought to be much harder for people to vote because you don’t want schlubs like this participating in the process.
Products of academia.....says it all.
There must be an app for that....
Create fake accounts on millennial frequented boards and spread the word about how voting is a “counter-revolutionary” act and the powerful won’t just give their power away and the only way to genuinely protest is to stay home on Election Day and that will show them etc.
Glad they arent voting.
Hey Samantha, the first general election I voted in, Carter won. The second belonged to Reagan. I didn’t give up after Jimmy won.
Sorry, that was the saddest thing I have read in a long time. While I am happy they are not voting, the utter ignorance, helplessness and excuse making was depressing. All traits of people who won’t be successful in the real world. There was no sense of civics. No knowledge or even desire to gain knowledge, unless they ‘bullet pointed it for me on social media.’ It was the equivalent of a child saying ‘well, maybe if you gave me a candy bar, I might eat the broccoli.’
That was some scary stuff. I have kids, and they are still looking at issues with relatively inexperienced (in their 20s) eyes, but they are looking at issues and challenging (usually my) ideas. And they are becoming more aware of the nuances for any situation.
So I can only hope they chose the stories by their shock value and that’s the worst of it.
I stand corrected. The comments after the article are now the saddest thing I have read.
‘It’s like sending a email, except you have to figure out where to buy a stamp.’
