It was a segregated society in Hot Springs at that time. Black and white students went to different schools. In the movie theaters, black people had to watch the movie from a balcony, use separate bathrooms and water fountains.

I visited Hot Springs in 1976. Black and white couples only felt free enough to come out with their children at night. So we'd see them at the parks and walking downtown - at night. I felt really sorry for them. And that kind of stuff took place with the Clinton's endorsement.
