President Trump, who constantly reminds us of his zest for winning, is about to embark on a campaign blitz. He will visit eight states and his campaign will spend millions on advertising. This will begin on Wednesday and last until election day.
The result of the Trump campaign blitz will be big wins for the Republicans on election day. The GOP will maintain a majority in the House of Representatives and increase their majority in the Senate to 56 or 57, but perhaps as high as 60.
There are a number of reasons why the Democrats will again perform poorly in Congressional elections, but the main reason will be simple. During the 1992 presidential election, Candidate Bill Clinton asked advisor James Carville about the most important campaign issue. Carville answered Its the economy. Clinton focused his message accordingly and won the election.
After nearly two decades of slow economic growth, its clearly the economy. And voters today are feeling much better financially. The economy is strong, their take home pay has increased and they generally feel optimistic about the future.
Trump and the GOP candidates will emphasize a simple question, Are you better or worse off today than you were two years ago? If you are better off then keep the momentum going and vote for the Republican.
There will be a few other themes to Trumps final message.
He will talk about the tax cut that has been very successful in stimulating economic growth in the short term and will be even more successful in the future. The tax cuts have already led to an increase in business investment, which leads to longer term growth.
Trump will emphasize that Democratic control of Congress will stop any future growth-stimulating tax cuts and may even result in rolling some back. Trump will tout how the tax cut and the elimination of growth-stifling regulations have already brought prosperity back to the US.
What is most important to most people is a good job. Since unemployment is at historical lows in virtually every category, formerly discouraged workers are now finding opportunity. Under-employed college graduates who settled for a job not necessarily requiring a degree, are now finding positions that match their skills and their anticipated income level.
Most Americans do feel much better off today than they did two years ago. Trumps message will resonate. He will also remind Americans that Democrats vote nearly 100% by the party line. That means any Democrat elected will likely never support any of Trumps positive agenda.
During Trumps blitz, a caravan of thousands of refugees and perhaps hundreds of undesirables will be marching toward the US from Central America. They intend to simply walk into the county, get apprehended and then released. Trump has taken a strong position and says that the caravan of people will not enter the US.
Polls consistently show that the majority of Americans oppose open borders and sanctuary cities. There are, however, a few states that take a different view. As a result, the caravan wants to end up in California where Governor Brown will use taxpayer money to support them.
Trump will hammer on this issue. The Democrats want open borders and sanctuary cities, while the majority of Americans do not. This issue will produce positive results for Republicans.
He will also talk about healthcare, which the Democrats view as a strong point for their party. But Trump will remind voters of the broken promises of Obamacare, the ever increasing cost and the complete inefficiency of the government run option. Socialism is a recipe for failure.
Government-run healthcare would be a disaster is the theme that Trump will push. Besides, he will note, with a strong majority in both the House and the Senate, he will be able to permanently fix the healthcare system.
He will also remind Americans about how much safer the country is today than it was two years ago. He will also talk about how he has been draining the swamp in Washington. Voting Democratic is voting to bring the swamp back.
By election day, undecided voters will vote heavily Republican. Even though there will be strong turnout from both the Democrats and the Republicans, the undecided will swing to the GOP.
President Trump will have a Congress that will be more willing to work with him. He will accomplish even more in the next two years than he has in the last two. Trump said he would Make America Great Again. After these elections he should be able to continue.
Amen!.........................
Sounds a bit Pollyanna-ish to me. I hope he is right.
I still love saying “President Trump”. Damn, 2016 was so awesome. May 2018 be half as awesome.
“Sounds a bit Pollyanna-ish to me. I hope he is right.”
My thoughts too.
Need to buy spots in popular T.V. shows that tout all the great numbers in the economy. Especially all the employment best evers. Most people still have not heard that news.
He works like a maniac. I recently encountered someone who didn’t know my politics and she was ranting about how Trump will say, “You’re not voting for (the candidate), you’re voting for me!”
“How egotistical IS that man!” Huff huff, snort snort - she was triggered, all the while MAGA thoughts danced in my head.
Where is a good place to see individual polls?
And when this election season is over, President Trump will be the sole owner of the Republican party. Trump worked hard for these candidates, his coattails brought them a win. There will be no resistance to Trump within the party. This is why he is making the effort. MAGA will have turbo rockets attached next year.
Lord Jesus, let it be so.
Well, you can listen to Hannity and hear his three possible outcomes until you are blue in the face.
Trump worked hard for these candidates, his coattails brought them a win.”
No President has ever worked this hard for GOP candidates.
Reagan did a fair amount, but not like this.
Of course with the Bushes, not like it would really have helped, either.
But Trump is just crazy good!!!
IMHO....All of the American people, each and everyone of them had better realize that this coming Mid-Term election may be the most important Mid-Term election in the history of our great nation republic.
The choice is simple, vote for the Trump supported Republican Party ticket or, vote for the Obama, Clinton, Biden, Sanders, Pelosi, Schumer, etc., Democrat Party ticket.
The political outcome is also simple and most predicable: Victory with the Trump mantra, the USA, nation republic thrives forward & grows as the number one power in this world....Victory with the Democrat Party mantra simply spells economic death and political death to the people and nation republic itself.
You can rant & rave, shout and yell...but, the Democrat, Socialist, Communist, Progressive, Racist menu spells defeat and destruction of our once great Republic. Freedom, Liberty, Equality, Opportunity will disappear, quickly & immediately, only to be replaced just as quickly & immediately, by the George Orwell model of “1984, Big Brother Government”: led by despots, dictators & tyrants!!!
This coming Tuesday, November 6, 2018 will be the critical path choice day, American voters will make to decide the fate of the USA in the future. I hope and pray, that the American voters will choose Freedom, Liberty, Equality & Opportunity as offered by our great, POTUS, Donald J. Trump...”The America First, POTUS”
Voters of America...this most important choice is yours and yours alone. Just remember and keep in mind, you are choosing the destiny for yourself, your family and all your loved ones. “THINK”!!!
Yeah....I love going over the moment I knew he won.
It was late....I was looking at a NYT election meter online.
The needle kept leaning toward Trump.
I feel asleep.......and when I woke up, the needle was ON Trump...... indicating he won.
Great day in the morning.....he had actually beat Hillary.
Trump’s unflagging energy and focus on winning are very inspiring. The left thinks he is lazy and plays golf all the time. I’m happy that they continue to underestimate him, and continue to not understand at all what he is about, what MAGA is about, and what really matters to Americans.
Since they will never admit they are wrong, the best thing is to keep them far away from the corridors of power.
If the dims take the house you can expect nothing but deadlock for the next two years.
I don’t believe the “it’s the economy” as THE issue unless the economy sucks.
When the economy is good, people kind of forget who got it that way. It’s still very important, especially to the newly hired. But it’s not everything. Ds have made some headway-—the only headway at all they’ve made-—with “health care.” That’s why fixing this was so important back in 2017 when McTurd gave the “thumbs down.”
Assuming we hold the House, this must absolutely be item #1 or #2, along with border enforcement & the Wall for Congress.
PERIOD. Not one in my 67 years. The man has an insane appetite for work and delivering results. It is staggering to watch...and it's all for us!
Skip the polls. The only one that matters is election night
