House Dems are promising to prioritize anti-discrimination legislation that would for the first time establish widespread equal rights protections for LGBTQ individuals should. Pelosi recently said she would introduce the Equality Act as one of her first orders of business if Democrats retake the House in November saying equal rights for the LGBTQ community is personal. The 1964 Civil Rights Act already bars discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin. The Equality Act, if passed, would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the law and expand those protections beyond the workplace. It would outlaw gender discrimination in places like restaurants and retail shops, in seeking housing, using health care and social services, applying for a loan or participating in the jury selection process. (Here we go...the Dems focusing on what's really "important" once again.)

The current law in civil rights and the protected classes are inborn and unchangeable characteristics like race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sex, etc., and religion, which is expressly protected under the constitution, Waddell said. What the Equality Act does is it turns it on its head and allow the government to impose a belief system about sexual decisions and sexual behaviors on the nation. Waddell said if the bill comes up for a vote, the group will certainly be part of the opposition.
The House bill has 198 co-sponsors, including two Republicans. But no Senate Republicans have signed on, and social conservatives oppose the legislation. And even if the bill cleared Congress, it would still have to be signed by President Donald Trump, who has aligned himself closely with religious conservatives.
Still, Democrats plan to move forward with the bill if they win the House majority, teeing up a test of the GOPs willingness to block it. Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said the legislation will be given a low bill number, meaning it would be among the first pieces of legislation to be introduced.
Hammill described such a designation as a place of honor.
QUICK! AN ELECTION IS COMING! PROMISE THE HOMO’S SOMETHING ....
Well, they must pander their base supporters.
She’s so delusional that she thinks that reminding the electorate of the Dem party’s embrace of sexual freakery as one of their top issues (along with erasing our borders) right before the midterms will help them take over the House.
“Rights” means they take away the right to disagree. Orwellian
Nancy must be scrounging for gay votes then.
The Good news is that if the Dems. win the House, any legislation they might pass has to be passed by the Republican Senate and if that happens signed into Law by President Trump. which makes them a useless body.
There are a lot of gays who dont even support the LGBTQ movement, especially the T.
I want a political equality law.
These insipid civil rights laws have done only one thing. Give privileged status to politically chosen groups of people and caused a class based society in America where its now rational to claim being part of a protected group to get benefits. (See Elizabeth Warren - see Pelosi - are California where you now get a job if youre a woman because they have to show a percentage of female employees regardless of merit)
If anything the civil rights law needs to be reverted and rights for ALL Americans must be treated equally.
Bake the cake for gay weddings but deny conservatives the right to eat at restaurants - this is the America Pelosi loves and wants.
Conservatives should do much more than just stop this, they should fight to roll back the entire “Snivel rights” amendment as far as it affects private business. It should only ensure a right of citizens to vote and access public primary education.
So, let’s assess the quote
Does enhancing the gay vote actually produce more antigay votes?
GOP needs to make sure every American voter knows about this!
Niche bills are such a turn off to the average voter. This is desperation time for the dems.
LOL! Has to pass the Senate too, and get signed by the President.
Not going to happen. The Democrats know this, but are hoping the Queers don't.
“Bake the cake for gay weddings but deny conservatives the right to eat at restaurants - this is the America Pelosi loves and wants.”
Pelosi and almost all of Hollywood...
Not sure how pandering to the 2% works that well.
In the public, virtue signaling gets a multiplier effect but this crap won’t play in Real America.
“Not going to happen. The Democrats know this, but are hoping the Queers don’t.”
Whether they know or not matters not. It will give Dems a platform to remind the world how “biased” and “homophobic” the conservative base is. Not that THEY aren’t quite biased themselves, but why would they want to mention facts, right?
Veto.
Going nowhere.
That’s not helping your chances, Nan.
A gift to the trial lawyers, and a threat for the rest of us to be so fearful of mere accusations, that society becomes more withdrawn and less open. (Guaranteed to spike that misery index thingy.)
