I’m not hopeful. Only determined actions against Mexico and our own active preparation and resolve will repel the invasion. The fact that the caravan is still heading our way means they and Mexico are not getting the message. The reality is that they are more determined than we are.
It is an invasion and it needs to be treated as such. I’m sorry but I just don’t see a sense of urgency or resolve given the massive problems heading our way.
They are more than 1,000 miles away, still south of Mexico City. A lot can happen in 1,000 miles. Lots of folks down there are not happy about this, saying it's about internal politics in Honduras and Mexico, and it seems to me Trump has a lot of cards to play over the next several weeks to make things uncomfortable for Mexico.
This thing dragging on is--like the Kavanaugh fiasco--terrible optics for the Democrats.
