Despite all the wealth in the state and the Democrat control of state government, California actually ranks as the poorest state in the country after costs of living are factored in. A whopping 19 percent of Californians live below the poverty line. While California represents just 12 percent of the nations population,
Californians represent a third of all Americans on welfare. The average monthly cost of rent in the state is 43 percent higher than the national average. Nearly a third of Californians spend more than half of their earnings on housing. The situation is made worse by skyrocketing energy costs. Residents who can afford rent or a mortgage are on the hook for electricity rates burdened by green initiatives and regulation that grew 500 percent faster than the national average from 2011 to 2017.

Yeah, but at least their cities dont have used drug needles and human sh*t all over the place... oh, wait...
Even many very wealthy people living in San Francisco has a comparably poor quality of life given the current state of the City
Because of illegal immigration.
Rent would go down substantially if a couple million people leave who are not supposed to be in California.

If the economy and standard of living is so bad, why does all of Central America want to move there?
Income inequality is a poor way to measure a state’s desirability. Others have already noted the stress and the lack of cleanliness living here.
The best way to measure a state is by how many want to come and how many want to leave. And California has a very bad future by that measure, because all the world’s poor want to come here and many of the state’s most wealthy are looking at how nice it would be to live in Idaho or Texas.
Notice the wealthy (Democrats) horde their wealth while exploiting their workers. They don’t want trickle down. They believe in mind, mine, mine!
California has been stuck on stupid for over 40 years.
A big chunk of this is being driven by lack of affordable housing stock. The lack of affordable housing stock is caused by baby boomer NIMBYs who block new development.
Aye carumba!
The rich make the best socialists.
Morally bankrupt.
It is all rigged in California. They don’t want the trash to have a place to live at a price that they can afford, they want them far away.
I have one family member out there and it makes me sad just to think of their circumstances and future.
Bump for reference
With all the wealth, glitter & mega mansions in the state compared to the Millions struggling just to survive, this does brings to mind the story that Jesus told about the Rich Man and the Poor Man Lazarus, who begged for food outside his mansion.
They want to run the state into bankruptcy, and when it can’t make interest payments on its debt, the default will be so huge as to crash the entire US economy.
First step to socialist takeover is to destroy the old institutions.
California may be the first domino to fall. The massive increase in interest rates following their bond default will take down Illinois, New York, and others.
