Ooops - full title:
“Jimmy John’s employee drives veteran to hospital after his panicked sibling calls sub shop by mistake”
Didn’t have permission to call an ambulance? What?
Cool story.
“Here’s a bucket of water and a sandwich.”
“But we’re the fire department. Why didn’t you call us first?”
We did!”
“Didnt have permission to call an ambulance? What?”

I take it that meant the cost wouldn’t be covered under his VA healthcare. (I assume.)
Nice going - but if I hear the “Freak Yeah” commercial one more time, I’m gonna lose it. lol
Us Nebraska people will do the right thing.....
(well, us country ones will. And some of the city people)
Well I guess I’m privileged then. My ambulance took me to a first-class hospital where they amputated my leg, then to a decent nursing home for rehabilitation for months and it cost me exactly nothing.
“Didnt have permission to call an ambulance? What?”
It’s the VA.
You know the place that gives veterans like us a second chance to die for our country.
If you have a chance go to RangerUp and search for The Damn Few presents The Wizard of VA.
It does happen. 15yrs ago I was taken by ambulance to the local ER for a cardiac problem. The ER doc called the VA hospital 200 miles away and they admitted me over the phone. The ER doc told them I needed to be transported right away, but the VA said no transportation is authorized, I had to find my own way. Needless to say the ER Dr was totally horrified. They gave me an oxygen tank and some nitro in case the pain got worse. Luckily I was able to get one of my son in laws to do the driving for 4 hours to get me there in the middle of the night.

Called a sub shop and got a Navy man. Sounds Karmic to me.
My frustrations with the bureaucracy could fill a book. But once I get into our facility. I have found the people working there to be really great.
Government health care at its finest? This is what Obama wants for all of us!
“didn’t have Department of Veterans Affairs’ approval to call an ambulance”
I hope PDJT hears this story, along with similar ones. This is unacceptable.
Jimmie John’s has the best sandwiches. Love the basic ham sandwich. Forgot what it’s called.
Sounds like a blessing from The LORD to me.

Not being a vet, I’m clueless about how the VA healthcare system handles such things. If it’s anything like civilian healthcare, insurance often does not cover everything.
Your case sounds like a pretty extreme situation - maybe with this guy his situation wasn’t deemed “ambulance transport-worthy”, I dunno. Which might have been the reasoning since he did get to the VA hospital in a JJ sandwich delivery car in the end. That would be my guess, at any rate.
Yes, they are yummy. I wish, though, that they still had sprouts. They made my sandwiches.
They said that there had been a health problem with them so they discontinued them. No veggie has had more problems that I know of than lettuce and they still have lettuce. Maybe it’s just an excuse to get rid of sprouts because they are a little more expensive and take a little extra care. I think, though, that the fresh sprouts really set their yummy sandwiches apart and were worth the extra attention. The sandwiches, though really good, just aren’t as exceptional without those sprouts!
Yeah, but you had a broken arm!
Juuust kidding. Couldn't resist.
BTW, 2AD or 2ID?
