A poll which last month has Beto O'Rourke leading Ted Cruz in the hot race for the U.S. Senate now says the race his flipped, and the Ipsos Polling Company credits President Trump's highly charged rally for Cruz in Houston on Monday with part of that rebound, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Mallory Newell, the polling director for Ipsos, says last month it had O'Rourke up by two, but the latest on line poll, which was conducted following the Trump rally, says Cruz has more than made up that deficit.
"We are seeing a slight edge for Senator Cruz," she said. "He is up five points over Beto O'Rourke, 49 percent to 44 percent."
The poll also shows that voters think supporting a candidate which backs, and is backed by President Trump, is a plus.
This flies in the face of predictions that Trump's appearance in Texas would turn off some Republicans.
"We find that about 51% of Texas say they are motivated to vote for a candidate who will support President Trump," she said.
Another key poll recently had Cruz leading O'Rourke by nine points."
This poll is certainly in line with where the margins in other polls have been," she said.

Beto was never up on Cruz unless you only polled Austin.
Good to see Trump out and campaigning. I don’t think he was there so much to support Cruz as he was to protect the downstream races and work on the future for Texas. A lot of blue-state migrants are there, and tons of Soros money and Hollywood money have been dumped into Texas for the future.
Can anyone trust a poll that had O’Rourke up by 2? I personally think that is ridiculous.
I think it was more a nation wide optics thing. They knew the crowd would be massive and that was a fantastic message.
Cruz was never going to lose Texas and the bogus polls are now correcting to get their data as close as possible for the last poll they do. They have to be fairly accurate in that last poll to be considered a real polling company in the public eye next cycle election cycle. Zogby is a great example of a good poll losing their reputation because they became to fake.
The fact they started two weeks ago shifting the data toward Republicans shows how badly the Dems are doing.....they never do this until the last two weeks for the propaganda value.
Hah! Like Beto even had a chance. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cruz win by 12%. If he were a little more “likable”, he’d win by 20%.
Just moved from California to Texas this week. It’s too bad my wife and I can’t register to vote in Texas for November 6 because we would love to help Cruz to an even bigger win.
Right Side Broadcasting Network, that has streamed all of President Trump’s rallies, said last night that he is planning 10 rallies in the 12 days before the Nov. 6 election. AMAZING!

Republicans are surging everywhere. I think it is possible to get to 57-58 in the senate. And minimal losses in the house and maintain control. Of course the media will not call the races for hours.
They’ve fully made peace with each other. And despite how mad I was during the convention, this is a good thing.
They can accomplish much together and giving each other credit for the other’s help is nothing but a huge win for US.
An IPSOS poll? This is a perfect example of what I have been saying: All pollsters are lying except when they show a Republican leading because if there was any way they could show the Republican losing they would.
It IS amazing, what President Trump is doing....with these rallies, before the midterms.
He is PERSONALLY carrying these candidates over the finish line....since (AFAICT) the RNC is not.

And internal polling along never had him close to Cruz.
Im sure there is a bump from the Trump rally and I think the rally was more about showing unity between cruz and Trump (for now and in 2020) because Texas loves and supports Trump but the needed to be some public healing because Texans do love Cruz. He’s one of us.
The rally was to finish patching that semi burnt bridge.
And it will only help Texas be even more solid red.
But Cruz would’ve won handily without the rally.
Texans don’t vote how they’re TOLD to. They vote how they WANT to.

It'd kinda make 2020 sense if the rats thought a Hispanic could help them win Texas but nah, IMO they'd go with a real card carrying LaRaza Hispanic like Castro.

that poll was bullsh!t to begin with. The only question has ever been whether Cruz will beat O’Dork by double digits or not.
IHEARTMEDIA is clear channel and broadcasts Rush, Hannity, etc. in many markets. They pwn the contracts but don’t support the message any more than Fox does (NewsCorp execs endorsed Kerry in 2004).
