Almost half of the high-profile male figures ousted from powerful positions in business, government and the media and entertainment industries during the #MeToo movement have been replaced by women, according to a New York Times analysis.
According to the Times's analysis, at least 200 men have lost jobs or "major roles" after facing public allegations of sexual misconduct in the year since sexual assault allegations against disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein helped bring the #MeToo movement to national prominence.
Of those men, about 122 were replaced and 53 of those replacements were women.
The Times analyzed the #MeToo movement's impact on politics, entertainment media and the news industry. According to the paper, at least 920 people were reportedly subjected to sexual misconduct against someone on the list.
Joan Williams, a law professor at the University of California, Hastings, told the Times that the data indicated that employers were beginning to view men as riskier hires than women, while the opposite was typically true.
Weve never seen something like this before, she told the Times. "Women have always been seen as risky, because they might do something like have a baby. But men are now being seen as more risky hires.
Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement, added in a statement to the Times that absent evidence of self-reflection and a change in behavior, the focus should not be on allowing those accused of sexual misconduct to reenter the workplace.
Wheres the self-reflection and accountability? she asked the Times, noting that many on the list have not reached out to their victims to apologize for their actions.
Perhaps if we saw some evidence of that, then we can have a more robust conversation about the road to redemption.
Among the women replacing men on the list is Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.), who replaced former Sen. Al Franken (D) last year after Franken was accused of sexual misconduct and groping by multiple women. Franken apologized for his behavior and resigned from the Senate while noting the allegations against President Trump in a speech on the Senate floor.
I find it so interesting the number of people who come up to me and say, Thank you for stepping in when someone needed to step in, Smith told the newspaper. Thats a lot of what women do a lot of the time, right?
This has been in the planning stages even before Trump was elected.
I ran into a woman from MN who was on the team to transform the entire country to women and minority CEO’s.
She was totally nuts but clearly being paid a great deal.
they will not like results in the long run.
How come there isn’t any firings of women who sleep their way to the top? Think Kamala Harris. Isn’t that bribery? Doesn’t that damage women who don’t?
This sounds like the same plan for appropriation of Christian churches by the Muslim population.
They’ll do some sort of renovation at the mosque and ask for space at the christian and catholic churches to “pray” then before you know it - BAM the church has a minaret.
Mainline denominations are closing churches, and are all to happy to sell to Muslims.
When do we get the proposals for sex segregated work places?
Think of the money that can be saved since you only gotta pay them $0.70. Of course, a womans work is never done, so there will be a drop in efficiency

As long as it just involved looking good and talking women can do It
Ive been putting solar panels on roofs and doing electrical for 30 years
NEVER met ONE girl on any crew or job ever. Not one
My wife is a TERRIFIC social worker
99.9% of the men snagged by the movement are Democrats or their supporters.
#metoo is a selective surgical strike to move certain people out of certain positions, and replace them with lefties.
It’s a bloodless purge.
What goes up, comes down.
Share prices.
I can think of one CEO who unquestionably took her company to elite status - Ebay. When asked about it, she even commented, “A monkey could do my job, which is leave it alone and make sure it runs as well as it can.”
When she left, they started messing with vendors and raising prices.
I’ve worked with many fine women engineers in my 30 years in semiconductor design.
Some of them probably helped design your solar panels you install.
That there is great, that's genius.
You could make some money peddling POUND ME TOO bumper stickers!!
We can say that men vying for top executive positions have more experience and competency in a particular area — on average — than women vying for the same work.
It’s the mission of any enterprise to hire the very best executives it can find for its top positions.
So if you assume that in 80% of cases, a man at each these 122 enterprises was passed over to hire a less qualified executive woman, this practice could spell long term disaster for the companies involved.
Last week I attended an industry analyst briefing by an up-and-rising tech company in Dallas doing about $500 million in annual business.
One of the 7 executives at the company who got up to present to the analyst group was a woman. And I was pleased to see she was very sharp: you definitely sensed she was the best person for the job.
Sorry to say that affirmative action hiring of top executives doesn’t work. You end up causing more problems than it’s worth.
Competence, experience, and leadership are the critical factors. Race and gender are way down the list.
