What if the Republicans Win Everything Again?
The NewYork Times ^ | October 19,2018 | By David Leonhardt

The end of Robert Mueller’s investigation. The loss of health insurance for several million people. New laws that make it harder to vote. More tax cuts for the rich. More damage to the environment. A Republican Party molded even more in the image of President Trump.

These are among the plausible consequences if the Republicans sweep the midterm elections and keep control of both the House and Senate. And don’t fool yourself. That outcome, although not the most likely one, remains possible. The last couple of weeks of polling have shown how it could happen.

Voters who lean Republican — including whites across the South — could set aside their disappointment with Trump and vote for Republican congressional candidates. Voters who lean left — including Latinos and younger adults — could turn out in low numbers, as they usually do in midterm elections. The Republicans’ continuing efforts to suppress turnout could also swing a few close elections.

No matter what, Democrats will probably win the popular vote in the House elections, for the first time since 2012. Trump, after all, remains unpopular. But the combination of gerrymandering and the concentration of Democratic voters in major cities means that a popular-vote win won’t automatically translate into a House majority.

In the Senate, the election already seems to be slipping away from the Democrats. Several of this year’s close Senate races happen to involve Democrats defending seats in red states. As a result, Republicans may expand their current 51-49 majority, making it easier for them to win close votes on legislation and nominations.

Vote to fire Feinstein. As we saw in the Kavuangh hearing. Replacing her with a radical clown Sanders type, with no influence and no seniority would be the next best tthink to winning the seat for the GOP

I hope his fears about the election come to fruition. I have not remotely gotten tired of the #Winning yet!!

Seriously, the deragement in the writer’s view of reality - indeed the positive psychosis of it - is bone-chillingly frightful.

Everything is going well for everyone - and yet this jerk - and millions like him - would gladly throw it all away and consign their fellow man to, in the end, crushing poverty and tyranny. If you ever wondered how the Nazis, or the communists, could, with peace of mind, consign countless innocent millions to suffer and die in the pursuit of some twisted pseudo-scientific mad ideal, you need read no further than an article like this one.

The mindset - and complete disconnect from reality - comes from the same place.

Dumb question: how would Pelosi raise taxes without the Senate and without a president to sign it?

Trumps response to the Dems should be: “Your Ass Is Mine!” To the press: “Go To Hell”. To the snowflakes: “Go ahead and riot. THEN see what happens!”

What if the Republicans Win Everything Again? . . . you mean other than rioting in the streets and some towns being burned to the ground.

Well, on our side I suspect some dancing in the street to take place.

Oh, and some great YouTube videos of liberals weeping. I wonder if this time they will start ripping their garments?

“But the combination of gerrymandering and the concentration of Democratic voters in major cities means that a popular-vote win won’t automatically translate into a House majority”

I’ve noticed an increasing drumbeat about gerrymandering being all one-sided for the Repubs. That’s funny, because living in Maryland, I’ve watched the dem legislature gerrymander strange-looking districts to
1) drive Repub congresswoman Connie Morella out after the 2002 redistricting,
2) drive Repub congressman Roscoe Bartlett out after the 2012 redistricting.

No doubt they will come up with more geographic gymnastics to get rid of Andy Harris (Maryland’s sole remaining Repub member of congress) after the next time.

We also have THE most gerrymandered district in the country - check the map of MD-3

If we get two more votes in the Senate we will be in a vastly different condition than two years ago.

The shock to deep state Republicans was bad and made them rebels and the party un-unified. Now with Flake gone, McCain dead, Collins and Lindsey with back-bone we are in a different world.

Two more votes will make it harder for one Rino or rebel to derail efforts to get ride of Obama Care, build the wall, stop the out of control immigration, cut out welfare and other aid for illegals etcetera.

If Congress is split, Rat legislation will die in the Senate.

The Rats can investigate Trump all they want and try to impeach him but he will never be removed from office.

Under the circumstances, Pelosi is better off remaining Minority Leader.

The end of Robert Mueller’s investigation...

First thing they mention; guess political vengeance on Trump is more important to them than concern for the American public.

I pray this comes true.

“The end of Robert Mueller’s investigation.”
If this investigation had found significant evidence in its first two years, it should have acted on that evidence. If not, then this is a political witch hunt and needs to be ended. To the extent that there is real Russian interference in our elections, politicizing a search for “collusion” prevents us from addressing the real problem.

“The loss of health insurance for several million people.”
Again, this would be fabulous. One of my children is self-employed and paying thousands of dollars for insurance that is completely useless. The deductible is so high that he will never meet it except in a medical catastrophe. Why pretend he has meaningful coverage, when all he has is what used to be called “major medical”, and that would cost a lot less if presented honestly?

“New laws that make it harder to vote.”
Again, that would be wonderful. We should make it easy for eligible voters to cast their votes and extremely difficult for illegals, fictional voters, out-of-state activists, and others who should not vote to vote.

“More tax cuts for the rich.” We have no right to spend their money; let them keep it. Tax everyone more or less at a level rate, so we all feel like we have skin in the game. It is too easy for the far left to be generous with what they can present as “other people’s money”.

“More damage to the environment.”
Every time I exhale, I emit what these lunatics pretend is pollution. I wish we would focus on real science so we could focus on reducing pollutants that matter.

“A Republican Party molded even more in the image of President Trump.”
President Donald Trump is a winner who may have stopped the wholesale destruction of the last, best hope for freedom on earth. We need more republicans like that, even if they are RINOs who just pretend so they can keep their jobs and stay on the cocktail circuit.

“...bleating about healthcare...”

I see it too. Yepp, all of a sudden the mob has gone silent with their Trump derangement. You could close your eyes today and pretend it is 1990, or 1992, or any election year since then ... the ad content today is recycled from then ... the GOP is trying to take away your healthcare, ... we need to spend more on healthcare...vote democrap. One local democrap candidate for Congress said the of course Obamacare isn’t perfect, it never was supposed to be (lie), we just need to get in there and fix it and make it even better (lie) before the GOPe destroys it (lie) .... without ever describing what and how it needs to be fixed. Never trust a democrap, never, never, never.
