The end of Robert Muellers investigation. The loss of health insurance for several million people. New laws that make it harder to vote. More tax cuts for the rich. More damage to the environment. A Republican Party molded even more in the image of President Trump.
These are among the plausible consequences if the Republicans sweep the midterm elections and keep control of both the House and Senate. And dont fool yourself. That outcome, although not the most likely one, remains possible. The last couple of weeks of polling have shown how it could happen.
Voters who lean Republican including whites across the South could set aside their disappointment with Trump and vote for Republican congressional candidates. Voters who lean left including Latinos and younger adults could turn out in low numbers, as they usually do in midterm elections. The Republicans continuing efforts to suppress turnout could also swing a few close elections.
No matter what, Democrats will probably win the popular vote in the House elections, for the first time since 2012. Trump, after all, remains unpopular. But the combination of gerrymandering and the concentration of Democratic voters in major cities means that a popular-vote win wont automatically translate into a House majority.
In the Senate, the election already seems to be slipping away from the Democrats. Several of this years close Senate races happen to involve Democrats defending seats in red states. As a result, Republicans may expand their current 51-49 majority, making it easier for them to win close votes on legislation and nominations.

[[The Dems have a lot of Gaul]]
They have so much gual because they have so little shame
The end of Robert Muellers investigation.
—> It has been two years and millions of dollars. And NOTHING
The loss of health insurance for several million people.
—> Obamacare destroyed health insurance for millions of Americans. The NYT’s could have cared less. Now if we tinker and remove this illegal law...OMG.
New laws that make it harder to vote.
—> Like showing an ID. Like the same as in buying liquor or tobacco or getting a welfare check? The NYT loves voter fraud.
More tax cuts for the rich.
—> Anyone keeping more of what they make is a Nazi. Rich is defined as anyone above the peverty level. Except the NYT is vehemently dead-set against DJT’s new tax law limiting SALT deduction - that nearly all to the rich.
More damage to the environment.
—> Name it. The US has done more to limit pollution and regrow forests that any other county on the earth.
And yet liberals are in favor of new laws making it harder to own a constitutionally-protected gun...
(And if liberals want it "easy" for people to vote, all they have to do is use the same ID they use to buy beer and cigarettes)
Yup. Theyre not sounding as confident as they did in the summer. America saw the Democrats in the raw during the Kavanaugh lynching attempt and didnt like what they saw. Internal polling must be beginning to show that and this article is another call to arms for the RATS to go out and cheat, attack and do everything to stop the growing Red Wave!
President Reagan said it best:
“We win. they lose!”
Fear. I can smell it.
and the fine whine of their salty tears will taste so sweet.
Dems seem to be frantically trying to lower expectations. Now the NYT is once again moving the goalposts - suggesting a popular vote win in the House that doesnt gain enough seats to create a D majority.
Their internal polling must be bad.
Usually a NYT article like this requires 3 or 4 authors.

Filling out my Cal absentee ballot. You may all know that the primaries are not by party. So we have Feinstein and De (added to be for ethnic) Leon the head of La Reconquista, as choices in the senate race. So I’m thinking, who to write in? Well when WE changed the law we also voted no write in candidates, which may be unconstitutional. Can’t I vote for whom I choose. Oh well, on to vote no on all state expenditures because we spend 21 billion a year on services to illegals.
You mean if Rats cant cheat and steal, they cant win? Awwww...
Perhaps the fifth-column leftist New York Times will be shut down, the property razed, and salt sown on the ground so nothing will grow there.
Well, maybe we can dream.
Wow, they sound scared, already making excuses
Wondered when the Clown media would wake up to this.
Given the bitter Never Trumpers who are retiring or dead, McCain Flake, Corker, Ryan etc, the next Congress, if the GOP holds, is going to be a much friendly place for President Trump
If the GOP runs the table, there’s going to be violence, somewhere, some point, it’s gonna happen.
They believe that they are going to win, and if they don’t, they will convince themselves very quickly that it was stolen from them via some nebulous skullduggery, and will respond with violence.
Shock troops will deploy.
The loss end of an unconstitutional health insurance boondoggle
New laws that make it harder for illegal, non-citizens to vote.
More tax cuts for the rich.
More damage to the environment energy independence and the resulting stronger economy
A Republican Party molded even more in the image of President Trump. YAY!!!
My Dem rep has been bleating about healthcare, complete oblivious to the fact that Obamacare is a disaster because it was Democrafted plan. That’s their issue...and hating Trump.
This time, they need to follow Trump’s lead. He is heading in the right direction. Last time, they kept spending money like drunken sailors.
I’d gladly give him some razor blades.
Nothing much will happen. They can't enact more tax cuts - they don't have the votes in the Senate. They can't replace Obamacare - they don't have the votes in the Senate. Judges will be approved. Spending will go up. The deficit will go up faster. Both sides will blame the other. Same old, same old.
