Despite another failure, experts say HIV prevention drug PrEP is still effective
NBC News ^ | October 15, 2018 | Tim Fitzsimons

Earlier this month, health officials reported the sixth confirmed failure of PrEP globally. The latest instance involved a San Francisco man who was consistently taking the HIV-prevention medicine during the time he contracted the virus.

PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, involves taking a Truvada pill once daily to stop HIV infection, and it is estimated to be nearly 100 percent effective.

Despite these six failures since Truvada was first approved as an HIV-prevention medication back in 2012, Dr. Stephanie Cohen, the medical director at the San Francisco City Clinic, said — unequivocally — that PreP is working as expected.

"Nothing is 100 percent effective, unfortunately," Cohen told NBC News.

“There’s a part of you that starts to think, ‘Maybe this is 100 percent effective, because this is so amazing,'" she added. But despite not being fail-proof, Truvada is still incredibly effective, especially considering that there are millions of new HIV cases globally each year, with tens of thousands in the U.S. alone.

Cohen’s clinic has been on the forefront of a nationwide effort to promote and distribute PrEP to at-risk people. The clinic operates one of San Francisco’s largest PrEP programs.

Cohen said the latest patient to contract HIV while on PrEP came to the clinic consistently for regular sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and, after months with no issues, tested positive for HIV. But the patient insisted he had taken a Truvada tablet every day, as instructed. So Cohen and her team decided to dig in.

“Just scientifically, we wanted to understand,” Cohen said, “how can this have occurred.”

Using hair and blood samples, they determined the patient had indeed been adherent to the PrEP regiment and had taken Truvada consistently for at least three months.

A way to drastically reduce one's chance of getting AIDS, which does not require taxpayer money, is to not let oneself be sodomized. But it's taboo to tell people to knock it off.

If they put as much money into research for cures for cancer and heart disease, we'd all live to be 100.

But when you're fighting God's word, no expense is too extravagant to enable degenerate lifestyles.

At no time did anyone have the courage to tell them to stop the practices that make if easy for the virus to spread.

Read the book: “The Myth of Heterosexual Aids.”

Like playing Russian Roulette with a 100-shooter, it’s still insane to try, even if “safer” than a 6-shooter.

90% is not “nearly” 100%. What propaganda.

Using hair and blood samples, they determined the patient had indeed been adherent to the PrEP regiment and had taken Truvada consistently for at least three months. Testing of the man’s HIV strain revealed that he had contracted a rare strain that is simultaneously resistant to both ingredients in Truvada. Including his case, four of the six confirmed PrEP failures have involved rare, resistant HIV strains.

Where there are 3 or 4, there are likely thousands.

These degenerates share their pathogens extensively, worldwide, more than they want to admit to. The inexorable trend is for the resistant viruses to become more dominant.

It's been discovered that effective, consistent adherence to PrEP is very rare in the homo "community." Anyone irresponsible enough to engage in such risky promiscuous sexual behavior isn't going to be responsible enough to maintain a rigid drug regimen that ensures effectiveness. It's an open secret among the fags that many of them engage in "drug holidays," periods of time off the drug for various reasons, without changing their risky behaviors.

The result is a proliferation of drug resistance in HIV, which then finds its way quickly into the sodomite communities of the country.

A confession: I’m a big fan of Peter Duesberg who disputed the theory that AIDS is caused by a retrovirus that we call HIV. He was making this claim back in the mid-80’s and is still voicing that opinion that over 30 years later.

What Duesberg asks is: Where is the proof that the HIV retrovirus is the cause of the multitude of diseases that group into something we call AIDS?

AFAIK, the HIV -> AIDS idea is still an unproven theory. There is no definitive study proving this connections in the medical literature.

UNPROVEN!

So if Duesberg is right then taking medicine to fight HIV is a total waste of time and money. Add to that the fact that the best studies of the transferability of HIV show that it isn’t.

Yeah, they are strangely silent about the 100,000 or so new HIV cases a year. And with at least 20% “don’t know it” then I suspect the actual number is much higher

And of those, about 2/3 are young homosexuals who been brainwashed into thinking there’s little to no risk “If it feels good, do it”

Yet the left gets its girlie panties in a wad at “gun violence” or military war deaths (when you know damn good and well it’s only for political purposes. They could care less about US Military)

People pridefully refuse to admit that their “lifestyle” facilitates this fast mutating virus and keep right on doing the thiNG which brought about the level of success the virus enjoys. They can’t win because they are leaning into the aids virus’ punches.

I’ve only seen that commercial once and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Has the medical community lost it’s mind? Encouraging promiscuous, deviant sexual behavior? We have truly turned into sodom and gomorrah.

You need to look at the numbers. Cancer funding dwarfs all other research areas combined. HIV gets maybe 5% of what breast cancer gets, for example.

We should all care about HIV research because of the knowledge it adds to our understanding of virology and immunology. We should also care about those who contract it.

While not a vaccine, PrEP fills a similar role. It should be routine medication prescribed for men who have sex with other men. Let's be real though. However we feel about choices made or actions taken around around us we should not want to see HIV spread unchecked unless you forget how things were looking in the 1980s.
