Pope Francis returned to one of his favorite topics this week, preaching against Christians who are rigid and resistant to change.
In his homily at morning Mass at his Santa Marta residence in the Vatican on Tuesday, the pope compared modern Christians hung up on doctrine, morals, or the liturgy with the hypocritical Pharisees and doctors of the law of Jesus time
People followed Jesus because he was attractive, touched hearts, made himself loved, Francis said, unlike the Pharisees who scrutinized everything under a magnifying glass.

The pope, in fact, gave a series of homilies sharply criticizing those who accuse others, particularly bishops, of wrongdoing, comparing them to Satan and his tactics.
Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the former papal nuncio who released a bombshell report in late August accusing high-ranking prelates, including the pope, of mishandling the sex abuse crisis, took the popes words as aimed at himself.
Pope Francis has compared his silence to that of Jesus in Nazareth and before Pilate, and compared me to the great accuser, Satan, who sows scandal and division in the Church though without ever uttering my name, the archbishop wrote in a recent 4-page statement.
If he had said: Viganò lied, he would have challenged my credibility while trying to affirm his own, he continued. Instead, he put in place a subtle slander against me slander being an offense he has often compared to the gravity of murder. Indeed, he did it repeatedly, in the context of the celebration of the most Holy Sacrament, the Eucharist, where he runs no risk of being challenged by journalists.

How about the 10 Suggestions? WRONG! Theyre Commanments!
The decline of morality in the world is not the fault of morally rigid Christians.
No. He taught truth with authority and served in humility. Qualities sadly lacking these days...
Dear Catholics..I’m not one...
Why aren’t you marching in the streets opposing this promoter of Satan?
Attractive?!?!?!
S C H _ S M
I’d like to buy a vowel please.
No offense, but for a non Catholic, there is much like the infallibility thing that appears to people like me, to be a systematic tool to extort, bribe and molest followers.
The confessional box thing.... very creepy from a sexual assault standpoint. The priest, after gathering the truth and dirt on all the people in town....that is very powerful for later shaking folks down isn’t it?
Sorry if I offended any Catholics... But dang is this Pope a sign of the end times. He couldn’t be more “a man of the world” than a man of God.
We ain't tolerating anything. Whatever support he had among serious Catholics is evaporated.
As for what do about it...well...that's a sticky wicket. This is a bit of a novel situation in 2000 years of history and I guess the most honest answer is that we're looking for some divine guidance on how to cut out the cancer without killing the patient.
For the time being, the laity is withholding their money, and the good priests are scheduling Masses of reparation etc. for the filth in the Church.
As Moses once said,”He originally gave me 20 but I got Him down to 10.” The first “Art of the Deal?”
I have a close family friend who is a devout Catholic and, while she thinks this Pope is a disgrace, she was, until last week when I told about it, completely unaware of the spat between the Pope and Archbishop Vigano.
Glad to hear it. MSM sure wont cover that, they love the progressive Jesuit Pope.
It's a good question. A few people I have read on this say that if Benedict left his office under duress, then his resignation wasn't valid and therefore Bergoglio is not the Pope. There have been times in the past where papal elections have later been nullified because of some irregularity. Believe me, I'd LOVE for this to be the case because he's been so destructive, it seems like the easiest thing would be to call him an anti-pope and that's the end of this madness. But while a lay person can have his beliefs on that, all it is is a private opinion. It'll take a Council and a future Pope to sort it out officially--like when Pope Agatho ratified the anathemas on Pope Honorius.
He does, yes, have supreme power over the temporal part of the Church BUT he has zero power over Christ who is its true head and zero power of the Holy Ghost who is its beating heart. The Pope cannot create or delete a sacrament. He cannot nullify a dogma. He cannot contradict the faith passed down from the ages. His power is only a confirmatory and strengthening power of what was divinely established...not a power of revolution and change.
If Bergoglio were to just come out and say "homosexuality is ok now", he would be rightly called a heretic and pretty much lose his office by that very fact.
I agree with you this has real-world implications. And I think your intimation is, although you didn't say it, "See! Protestants were right all along!"
To that I say: it's early yet. Keep watching this. If you see the Catholic Church fall and crumble apart from this mess, then it showed itself a mere human institution that can fail like the rest.
If, however, as I believe, in one of its darkest hours you see the Catholic Church rise to the occasion, expel the heretics, and reassert its allegiance to Christ triumphantly and unconditionally, then that is evidence that, like we've always said, there is a Divine protection over it, and the gates of Hell will never prevail against it.

Me too.
All's I know is that Christ promised the Gates of Hell would never prevail against her. Now what that looks like in this timeline, I dunno.
When you trust Our Lord you trust Him totally, and especially when Hell seems to be winning. Everything looks black. Everything looks dark. The Bishop of Rome seems totally off the rails. The Eternal City has become another Sodom, practically begging for fire and brimstone. If ever the See of Rome were going to fall to pieces and prove Herr Luther right, it'll be right now.
But it won't. I don't know how it won't....but I know it won't.
Christ was laid in that tomb, and in shock and grief no one expected Him to ever come out again. But He did, and in their joy they eventually remembered.....that He told them He would.
Just watch the gates, my FRiends. Be patient and watch.
Pope Socialista, says “Hey the Devils not such a bad guy, stop pushin that damn apple away”
Seriously??? Wow. That is.....wow.
I take it she's not online much? That's where all of the discussion on this is happening.
A Pope who rejects Biblical teachings.
