Pope Francis Denounces Morally ‘Rigid’ Christians
Breitbart ^ | Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D.

Posted on 10/18/2018 6:00:52 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Pope Francis returned to one of his favorite topics this week, preaching against Christians who are “rigid” and resistant to change.

In his homily at morning Mass at his Santa Marta residence in the Vatican on Tuesday, the pope compared modern Christians hung up on doctrine, morals, or the liturgy with the “hypocritical” Pharisees and doctors of the law of Jesus’ time

People followed Jesus because he was “attractive, touched hearts, made himself loved,” Francis said, unlike the Pharisees who scrutinized everything “under a magnifying glass.”

*snip*

The pope, in fact, gave a series of homilies sharply criticizing those who “accuse” others, particularly bishops, of wrongdoing, comparing them to Satan and his tactics.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the former papal nuncio who released a bombshell report in late August accusing high-ranking prelates, including the pope, of mishandling the sex abuse crisis, took the pope’s words as aimed at himself.

Pope Francis “has compared his silence to that of Jesus in Nazareth and before Pilate, and compared me to the great accuser, Satan, who sows scandal and division in the Church — though without ever uttering my name,” the archbishop wrote in a recent 4-page statement.

“If he had said: ‘Viganò lied,’ he would have challenged my credibility while trying to affirm his own,” he continued. “Instead, he put in place a subtle slander against me — slander being an offense he has often compared to the gravity of murder. Indeed, he did it repeatedly, in the context of the celebration of the most Holy Sacrament, the Eucharist, where he runs no risk of being challenged by journalists.”

Jesus forgave sinners who repented. He told them to go and sin no more. Somehow, that message does not come though to me in what the Pope is reported to have said. He must have been taken out of context.

Christ crucified.

Nope, get your Bible out and try again. Sad to say John is the clue most of us would go to but if you read the Bible closely they all preached the same message.

hint: Mathew 3:2
Mathew 4:17

It is important to know this. It is message of all the Prophets and Jesus was also a Prophet.

Much more than a prophet, the savior son of God, as well as John the Baptist, much more than a prophet, a messenger of God..

You know rightiousness is defined as suffering for the truth by Christ, as the disciples said when beaten, more glory for me..
The church no longer seeks, it thinks it knows and sucks up to the dying world as God’s path, sorry babylon is falling, and we don’t need a freakin pope, we have a King..

I’m assuming by “rigid” he means all males over the age of 12.

Are you saying Paul was wrong? I don’t think you are. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. He was crucified as a propitiation (to satisfy God’s justice) for our sins. If we repent and believe the Gospel (God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to die for the sins of mankind, especially those that believe, He went down into the tomb and raised Himself again on the third day proving He was Who He said He was). This is what is meant by “Christ crucified.”

“Repent and believe” said the prophets and Christ. “Believe what?” asks the inquirer. “Christ crucified” replies Paul. We are gnawing on the same stick, I think.

So many errors it is doubtful this Pope is even a Christian.

Not arguing with that, but Jesus IS a Prophet and the message stands. What is the message of all the Prophets and what happened to those who spoke the message from God?

Back to the article, The Pope, if he is a man of God, would be preaching the same. And if we are men of God, we would do the same.

The worldly response to that message is, “But who are you to judge?” Didn’t we hear that from the Pope?

Are you saying Paul was wrong?

Where do you jump to that conclusion? Did you read my references and reflect?

What did Jesus preach? What was the essence? His word very clearly tells us. Mathew 4:17. And if you read closely Paul preached the same.......................

The message of the Prophets is VERY OFFENSIVE, so offensive it will get you killed.

Christ crucified is true, but much easier to preach, won’t get you killed. But it does not contain the whole truth. It says Jesus died on the cross for my sins, I’m good and don’t have to do anything else.

Yes, Paul preached that, but remember what he ALSO preached.

You know, modern life is not easy. One tries to be moral and walk the righteous path, not always successfully. But this kind of crap from the Supreme Pontiff is not helpful to one trying to live a moral life. It is not “accompanying”, except down the primrose path to perdition. Why doesn’t the Pope try strengthening the brethren and upholding the deposit of faith (i.e., fulfill his job description) for a change?

Me: “Are you saying Paul was wrong?”

You: “Where do you jump to that conclusion?”

Me: When I said “Christ crucified,” quoting Paul, and you said “Nope. Get out your Bible and try again.”
