The Mexican government has sent 500 extra federal police to its border with Guatemala in anticipation of their arrival, say documents obtained by NBC News
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is tracking the caravan as the Hondurans make their way north toward the U.S. border. Meanwhile, the State Department is trying to stave off that possibility by compelling the Mexican government to stop them at its border with Guatemala.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to Mexico to meet with his counterparts on Friday, and plans to stop the caravan will be a "prominent" topic of discussion, a senior State Department official told reporters on Wednesday.
"I am certain that there will be conversations in Mexico about how we can work together on this issue," the official said about the caravan. "We are certainly looking for concrete results and for solutions that work for both countries."

Look folks, I hate to be a wet blanket, and I'm one of the strongest Trump supporters here, even when he first slid down the escalator.
But more and more, it's looking like Trump is trying to get some deal out of this. That he's using the issue merely to rally the base instead of just doing the right thing and to Hell with what the Courts or public opinion say. This issue is just too important to be dicking around and trying to appease Democrats who want open borders.
Troops should have been on the border from Day One of the Trump administration. All points of entry into the US should have been sealed. This would have stopped the crap back in June, and the crap that's happening now.
We are giving these countries millions of dollars in foreign aid and this is how they repay us. Why are we giving these s--tholes our hard-earned tax dollars? I work 2 jobs for crying out loud.
Trump needs to step up. He needs to get off of Twitter and hold a press conference that he's dispatching troops to the border.
Most of them are bordering on OBESITY; they can do with walking all the way and not eating at all.
