Cannabis becomes legal in Canada

Country becomes second and largest with legal national marketplace.

The Canadian government is ready to pardon those with a cannabis possession record of 30 grams or less as the country becomes the world’s second and largest country with a legal national marijuana marketplace.

Canada legalizes marijuana: here's everything you need to know Read more A federal official said Canada would pardon people with convictions for possessing up to 30 grams of marijuana, the new legal threshold, with a formal announcement due later on Wednesday.

The use of medical marijuana has been legal in Canada since 2001 and Justin Trudeau’s government has spent two years working toward expanding that to include recreational marijuana. The goal is to better reflect society’s changing opinion about marijuana and bring black market operators into a regulated system.

Uruguay was the first country to legalise marijuana, in 2013.

Legalisation began at midnight with shops in Canada’s eastern-most provinces the first to sell the drug.

Well in most of north America the problem would take care of it’s self if the government didn’t support them with free food and housing.

They die off in the winter.

Could this have anything to do with their universal health care?
Trying to let folks just self medicate?

Good question.

Of course, the only of those I would have to “worry” about is “liquor store”. We don’t sell alc in grocery stores here.

But while I’m a teetotaler, alc isn’t quite the category of marijuana. (I’m also more worried about the porn shops we occasionally have on our same “normal” highway.)

Ah, there you go.

Along with all the other “cure-all” snake-oil “natural” chemicals.

Where exactly? I’m very connected to western MD and know it quite well. Would like to know so I may be able to discuss it with my aunt or one of my good friends up there.

Step 1: Drive to Port Huron

I agree, woo hoo! Except, hopefully on Nov. 6th we won't need to drive out of state. I don't partake, but I think those that want to should be able to. I also hope that they all get that buzzed driving is impaired driving...and cars and cops are not as forgiving as they were in the 70s.

Come down to California. I’m sure you can also found sketchy “porn shop” looking ones, but the ones I’ve been to generally look like nice cafes or expensive boutiques.

I hope there aren’t any liquor stores in your fine city. That would be a conundrum.

Which I prefer, because at least then I don’t have to ingest as well.

One of the big reasons I’m against it: smoking pot = smoke = “2nd-hand smoke” inhaling = getting high against my will.

Let them have it in ways it won’t directly affect me.

“...it’s not like anyone who ever went to junior high or high school in the United States in the past 50 years is unfamiliar with Huxley’s work.”

Dunno, my grands haven’t read squat, but all received pretty good grades. I interrogate them all the time, the standards & classics are rarely used. They have never read Faulkner, Hemingway, Byran, Joyce, Steinbeck, Williams, Cooper, Orwell, Huxley etc... Maybe that’s reserved for college lit.
