Stacey Abrams, the Democrat hoping to make history as the first black governor of Georgia, was asked by CNNs State of the Union on Sunday if she believes the Trump economy has been good for Georgia.
Abrams credited President Barack Obama, not Trump:
I would say that the Obama economy and that Nathan Deal, as governor, have both done a very good job of shepherding our society. But the problem we have is that, while our unemployment rate has fallen, we still are a low-wage state, where you have a lot of folks who are working two or three of those jobs. And Im running for governor because you shouldnt have to work more than one job full-time to make a living. You shouldnt have to fight to get access to health care. We shouldnt have rural hospitals shutting down because of our refusal to expand Medicaid. Im running for governor because I want to be the governor for everyone, not just those who are succeeding in our current economy, but for everyone who needs good education, good jobs, and access to health care.Host Jake Tapper noted that Georgia has not elected a Democrat governor in two decades, and he also told Abrams that she seems to be more progressive than the average Georgian. He asked Abrams why shes a good fit for governor:
Because what Im talking about is progress for all of us, Abrams said. Making certain that your family income and your zip code doesnt determine your education shouldnt just be a progressive value. Its a smart value.

She sort of has an interesting point to debate. But I’d have to have some terms defined. “Work,” for example. Forty actual hours of on-time good performance? “Living,” food, shelter, clothing, and bus fare to get to work? Somehow I have a feeling that we would differ on those points. I suspect there’s big screen TVs and Obama phones in her definition of “living.”
But the big one, and the first premise we would have to define is, what do we mean by “shouldn’t have to”? The way that is stated implies that someone or some thing is at fault. But I bet we’d disagree on that, too. If the reason you can only get a menial, low-paying job is the fact that you didn’t study in the free grade schools and high schools you attended, whose fault is that? If it’s because your work history shows you don’t get to work on time because you are hung over or doped up, whose fault is that?
Or in a more basic case, if you are making a basic living — food, shelter, etc, — for your family, but you desire material things like a big screen TV, latest I-phone, car, isn’t it your fault more than society’s? Somehow I bet she and I would disagree on all those things.
No - that was a double whammy. Obama thought himself clever because the dems were afraid that if they forced health insurance on full time employees that employers would just hire only part time workers. So they changed the definition of full time to 30 hours.
So the employers cut everybody back to under 30 hours.
So then as unemployment remained high under Obama the Dems decided they wanted to change the meaning of things again and declare a full day work week as 4 days. This would cause businesses that were open 7 days a week to take on more employees, thus solving unemployment!
Yeah, that didn’t take either.
Capitalism progressively raises average REAL wage rates. In the context of free and rational economic environment, an increase in the ratio of aggregate productive expenditure over aggregate sales revenues, which is an increase in the economic degree capitalism, first establishes full employment. Then, it increases aggregate demand for labor, which increases average money wage rates. It also increases production and supply, which leads to lower average prices. The combination of higher money wage rates and lower prices leads to higher real wage rates, which leads to higher standard of living for the average worker. What is not needed is leftardism, which is the opposite of the above.
Partially correct. In addition her voting base also consists of:
I know, so does Fastenal.
I just heard of it and don’t know much more. Does Depot get it to you within an hour?
Not the way it's been practiced in the USA for the last 30 years. Unbridled legal immigration, pushed by Republican globalist economic disciples, created this person.
Someone should tell these Democrats that if the illegal invasion was stopped AND reversed (all illegals out), most of what they complain about would fix itself in a matter of a few years or maybe less.
Also, if the union bosses didn’t sell out the rank-and-file, there would be no illegal problem, for they would see to it they are kept out to keep the prevailing wage much higher.
It’s the old 80/20 rule: 80% of the problem is caused by 20% of the population. 325 million X .20 = 65 million, roughly the number of illegals here today.
That’s right. Every burger flipper should be paid the same as brain surgeons.

I’m still waiting for my free obama phone, free rent and a purple unicorn.
It should take one job for most people. But that would would require that the Left was kept in check and government interference in the economy was kept at a minimum. Those are tall orders.
And yet she supports importing huge numbers of (illegal) immigrants the drive down working wages.
Trillions of dollars spent an’ you didn’ get any Obamastash?
Call your congressman and complain.
Legal immigration is a mixed bag. It has pros and cons. It increases the supply of labor, which decreases average money wage rates, but it expands the division of labor which increases productivity of labor, which increases average real wage rates.
Or kiss Georgia goodbye.
To the US worker( or any worker in any country for that matter) there is no benefit to immigration. It is burden to the taxpayer and the wage earner alike. Most immigrants use welfare/social services and when/if they finally do get citizenship are way more Likely to vote Democrat. It is lose - lose - lose..
People should also have to create their own jobs, where they can dictate their own take-home pay or salaries.
Some immigrants start businesses which employ large number of people.
Typically though they aren’t found in grass huts in Somalia.
Fixed it.
