Who is right on the policy merits here — Trump or Sessions? What is the specific bill being considered?

What a thought. This situation is perhaps the most embarrassing I can remember. Come to think of it I’ve never seen anything like it. Sessions and Rosenstein should have been gone long ago. Poor leadership at this point. I have yet to meet someone who thinks this situation isn’t ridiculous outside the internet clowns and the 4D chess,Q garbage.

I’m assuming “prison reform” means mass release of violent felons?

I’ve never, in my life, seen such a directly insubordinate person survive in his job for such a long time.

I’m for any reform that chops off appendages to get offenders out of prison early.

I agree with sessions. Don’t reduce age of compassionate release. Extend to 70. Others changes to limiting on prison options

The entire “Justice System” is big business and has a very strong lobby base. They like just like it is.

I’m notr in favor of easier time for those convicted according to laws and imprisoned.

Just like the border wall issue and illegals, trying to help prisoners while doing little to stop the flow into jails is stupid and waste of money and time in fruitless ways like reducing time, etc. Jailing is just a business that govt seems determined to keep growing.

I’d rather we spend more time and effort helping families become educated about teaching and training their children not to break laws.

Sessions shuffles to the (slow) beat of his own geriatric drum.

Remember though, this is only for Federal crimes, which is actually a small percentage of incarcerations as the states have.

I like this a whole lot better than what MoonBeam did recently in CA though, allowing all those who have been charged with murder to be released if they weren't the ones who actually pulled the trigger but were helping with the crime. THAT is going to release a lot of very hardened criminals all at one.

This is the question posed by his SIL on the topic -

"“The single biggest thing we want to do is really define what the purpose of a prison is. Is the purpose to punish, is the purpose to warehouse, or is the purpose to rehabilitate?”"

I say all three, and I think we can all agree on that, then the question comes as to which takes priority and how much resources are we going to throw at it.

Sessions would be a Mueller if he could get away with it.
