I often hear Conservatives explicitly state that America is a Constitutional Republic. They argue this, because the United States Constitution set the organization and layout of the nation as a Republic. It states this explicitly as such. Meanwhile, I often hear Liberals, Democrats and Progressives repeatedly state that America is a Progressive Democracy. They say this, mostly because I guess, they dont know any better. They parrot what they have heard.
Today, sadly, America does not function like either a Republic or a Democracy. It functions as something else. It functions and operates as an Oligarchy. It really does. Lets look at this issue and try to determine what is going on in America; the most significant nation on this planet
Americans are brought up to believe all sorts of myths about the country we call home. Were told our economy is a free market meritocracy governed by the rule of law. Were told our civil liberties, enshrined in the Bill of Rights, are inviolable and protected by the most powerful military in the world. A fighting force entrusted with the admirable and monumental task of defending freedoms at home, and democracy and human rights abroad. Were told we exist in a system of self-government, in which our votes matter and our voices heard.
In practice, none of this is true.
There are many, many people who have addressed this issue. The arguments are rather simple and blunt.
If America is an actual Republic, then why is there a Federal Reserve, Senators that are popularly elected, and federal agencies that override the tenth Amendment. Republics that follow the Constitution will have none of this.
Alternatively, if America is a Democracy, then why are the populist issues resolved in the favor of the wealthy elite? Why are we endlessly involved

Needs a disclaimer: L-O-N-G article, but a good one.
Those that use the “Democrat” label caused a lot of un-Constitutional things that also violate the Republic philosophy...We may not be fully what we started out as but that’s because we allowed politicians to become professional power hunters.
"Democracy will envy all, contend with all, endeavor to pull down all, and when by chance it happens to get the upper hand for a short time, it will be revengeful, bloody and cruel."
John Adams, letter to Thomas Jefferson, 16 July, 1814
The USA’s type of government: constitutional federal republic
I always thought that we had a constitutional republic. That’s what we were taught back in the 60s. But what do I know?
The USAs type of government: constitutional federal republic
The individual states may be democracies, but the USA is not.
Excellent find.
17A is the worst.
America is a Progressive Dictatorship by Oligarchs, whose main goal is to demoralize you.
We have a two-party system.
A socialist regulated constitutional federal republic
This is going to come up more and more.
The Democrats are committed (as per their name) to a universal franchise democracy. As they should be, since under such a system they would never lose.
The Constitution, on the other hand, had anti-democratic bones - the Senate, the Electoral College, the Supreme and inferior courts, and to some degree the Presidency.
Since the 1990s, the leftist majority has grown significantly. I’ve been looking at numbers recently. Just as a single example, states with two Democrat Senators (48) have 40 million more people than states with two Republican Senators (51).
In states won by Hillary, Trump got 22 million votes, but in states won by Trump, with much narrower margins, Hillary got 32 million votes.
So, the Left in the US has a majority somewhere between 20 million and 40 million people. They are being held in check by the Constitution, but they don’t like it.
Of course, our problem is bigger than that, since many Republicans also believe in “democracy”. I do not believe in “democracy”, I detest it, so I have no problem with keeping the anti-democratic Constitution in place.
” A fighting force entrusted with the admirable and monumental task of defending freedoms at home, and democracy and human rights (i.e. homosexual rights) abroad.”
Where is that in the constitution?
I don’t want my sons fighting and risking death abroad to defend other countries “human rights.”. Screw that. Let the homos in those countries fight for themselves.
Republic. Next stupid question?
"Do I want to be ruled by one tyrant 3,000 miles away, or 3,000 tyrants one mile away?"
The biggest error in this article is the assumption that the Left knows the difference between a Republic and a Democracy. A dollar to a doughnut that a survey of those rioting idiots on the streets would prove they don’t have a clue about the difference.
Actually with the passage of the Seventeenth Amendment, we became a democracy. We are no longer a republic due to the fact that the 17th Amendment shifted the election of senators directly to the population much like the house, and it moved the powers away from state capitals as a check and balance on a large Federal bureaucracy. We essentially have very strong political parties and power Brokers that control all of what goes on in the government with the state capitals being effectively removed from the conversation. Lobbyists party Chiefs and big money run Washington DC as a result of the 17th Amendment. And it’s fueled by the 16th Amendment
Prior to the passage of the 17th Amendment who your governor was your local house rep in your local state center mattered every 6 years because they voted on your behalf and recommended an individual from your state serve in the senate in Washington DC. Our founding fathers knew that political parties would have way too much influence in Washington DC. Time to repeal those amendments to get our Republic back till then we have a democracy. And historically democracies Never End very well for the citizens. Take a look at the French Revolution
It is probably time to bring civics classes back for grades 1-12.
Yes. A must-read for the serious about the true condition of our nation.
All as the Commies planned it in the 1930’s.......that my beloved mother read as a typist for the FBI during WWII........and why she was a staunch Goldwater conservative.......
I see no path of recovery apart from collapse - that the Marxists will eventually cause to occur. Trump is but a momentary reprieve from the progressive assault, as the tactics used on Kavenaugh become the norm.....
The week Trump announced I posted right here It doesnt matter who wins, Trump or Hillary, in the age of The Imperial Presidency one side will not accept the outcome of the election. Whoever wins will be forced to respond with authority in the interest of public safety and Consitutional Freedoms will have to be ignored. What we are seeing was entirely predictable.
For the Left, a Democracy is mob rule. They know it, as that is the only way they can get their insane policies and ideas pushed and forced on the people.
Yes, their use of Judicial Legislation is their Go-To, but they wouldn’t be able to do any of that, if local elections weren’t decided on the majority.
Think about those election maps. If they’re right, the entire country is RED, except for the cities. If there were type of state level “electoral college system” set up, there would be very few Democrats at the federal level. If the state legislatures picked Senators, there’d be at least 66+ Republican’s in the Senate right now.
31 states are controlled, top to bottom, by Republicans ... 62 Senators.
11 states controlled by Dems( I think) 22 Senators.
8 states with a mix and they would each send one Republican and one Dem. 8 ea.
Gives the Senate a 70(R) to 30(D) split.
All it will take is a few states to get real serious. More than likely the South, Midwest and Mountain states. Let California secede. Take the coast’s of Oregon and Washington with them. Build the wall along those lines and let them eat each other. It won’t be long before they do. Just get rid of them and their insantiy.
No need to worry about China or Russia, the President is handling them just fine and it appears as though China is inching every closer to the cliff. Their imperialism is seeing its last days.
