Sears Holdings Corp. SHLD -5.99% has hired M-III Partners LLC to prepare a bankruptcy filing that could come as soon as this week, according to people familiar with the situation, as the cash-strapped company that once dominated American retailing faces a debt payment deadline.

There wasn’t anything within easy drive of where I used to live except a Sears.
Back in the day they had everything.
I used Craftsman tools for my whole career as a GE tech.
They did not keep up with the times.

Mom used to take me there every Saturday when I was a little boy. They had a massive pistachio nut machine right near the doorway. It was such a bustling & energized place. Darn shame they ran it into the ground.

Pretty sure my folks bought me a pair back in the late 60’s. Then they figured just go cheap and use the iron on knee patches LOL!
Hard to believe the “Big” Sears catalog ended in 1993 and Amazon started in 1994.

I bought a lot of Snap-On tools, too. Pricey, but quality. Ya get what ya pay for...
I agree with you in total.
Went into a Sears a couple years ago and not one GD floor person came up to ask if we needed help. They acted like we should be in honor in being in there.
If they would have continued with their catalog sales and actually sent them out like they used to-to customers who went to their stores at least, they could’ve advertised the fact that they still send out catalogs so you could actually see what you are looking for without taking a chance at being hacked online. IMO, this could have worked. But hey! The pencil pushers know better right?
Harbor Freight does that and you can turn through the pages and see what kind of cheap crap they have for sale. Northern tool also.
Sears was the Amazon of its time.
The Craftsman tool line will continue. I think Ace Hardware will carry it.
