All 3 :)
That’s why I love FR. Always learn something new. Thanks. Wasn’t aware of this and haven’t bought a new tool in a few years :-)
There wasn’t anything within easy drive of where I used to live except a Sears.
Back in the day they had everything.
I used Craftsman tools for my whole career as a GE tech.
They did not keep up with the times.
"....Craftsman is a line of tools, lawn and garden equipment, and work wear. Originally owned by Sears, the brand is now controlled by Stanley Black & Decker....
...In March 2017, Stanley Black & Decker acquired the Craftsman brand from Sears Holdings. Sears maintains the right to manufacture and sell tools using existing supply channels under the Craftsman name for 15 years after the deal closed. In April 2018, Lowe's began selling Craftsman tools...."
Craftsman tools will still be around even if Sears closes.
“What happens to Craftsman?
Pretty sure they sold that asset off a to Stanley / Black and Decker while retaining the right to sell the tools. They were shopping Kenmore earlier this year.
Sweet! Heck of a deal.
Mom used to take me there every Saturday when I was a little boy. They had a massive pistachio nut machine right near the doorway. It was such a bustling & energized place. Darn shame they ran it into the ground.
"hit man for the mob"!
LOL
Thanks all for the 411. Probably should have searched it before posting.
“Did you wear Sears Toughskins as a kidwith the reinforced knees?
They were VERY popular in my neighborhood”
Pretty sure my folks bought me a pair back in the late 60’s. Then they figured just go cheap and use the iron on knee patches LOL!
Hard to believe the Big Sears catalog ended in 1993 and Amazon started in 1994.
Yep, they didnt miss the next big thing.
Nope, not at all.
They had a century of delivering goods to home experience and 100% missed the next big thing.
:-)
NY Upstaters get waaaay more snow than we do in the Boston area.
It will be here before we know it——unless the dreaded Global Warming fouls us all up.
.
I used the iron-ons too -—also popular.
Kids were never inside in those days-—the pants didn’t last long.
.
Me too :)
He definitely owned a gun.
And my grandfather heard his mother asking him once “did you kill him?”
And he said “shut up!! The kids are right here!”
That’s a true story.
I don’t know if the killing is true.
lol
Now If I could only do all three at once :)
I could be on Looney Tunes
Ace Hardware also sells Craftsman. Don't know if Ace is part of the Lowes corporate umbrella or not.
I bought a lot of Snap-On tools, too. Pricey, but quality. Ya get what ya pay for...
I agree with you in total.
Went into a Sears a couple years ago and not one GD floor person came up to ask if we needed help. They acted like we should be in honor in being in there.
If they would have continued with their catalog sales and actually sent them out like they used to-to customers who went to their stores at least, they could’ve advertised the fact that they still send out catalogs so you could actually see what you are looking for without taking a chance at being hacked online. IMO, this could have worked. But hey! The pencil pushers know better right?
Harbor Freight does that and you can turn through the pages and see what kind of cheap crap they have for sale. Northern tool also.
Sears was the Amazon of its time.
The Craftsman tool line will continue. I think Ace Hardware will carry it.
