During Monroe’s time it was called the era of good feelings. He almost became the second President to get a uniamous electoral college win. One delegate changed his vote so that George Washington was the only President so honored.

Yes, James Monroe has & will continue to stand the test of time. Not only his overwhelming acceptance at the tme of his Presidency. But no other President, besides his fellow Virginians, Washington & Jefferson, had so important a role in determining how we are seen by the world.

Prosecute the vandal, and sentence him to 100s of hours of community service, polishing historic structures, statues, etc.

This sort of attack on the American heritage is indefensible, coming from anyone living in one of our States, and expecting respect he is not willing to accord to the rest of us! (My opinion would be no different, were the vandal's target Massachusetts Senator Daniel Webster.)
