Florida Democrats are calling for state officials to extend the voter registration deadline as Hurricane Michael approaches.
Florida Democratic Party Chairman Terrie Rizzo sent a formal letter to Gov. Rick Scott (R) and Secretary of State Ken Detzner on Monday requesting that they push back the deadline as Floridians prepare for the storm.
Tuesday is the state's deadline for eligible individuals to vote ahead of Novembers elections, but the impending hurricane will adversely impact the ability of these eligible, but unregistered individuals who may have waited until the last day in order to register to vote, Rizzo wrote.
Scott has already declared a state of emergency in 35 counties and residents have already begun evacuating along the Gulf Coast.
These individuals may forego registering, in view of your warnings regarding the danger of the storm as well as County evacuations, the need to prepare, and both announced and anticipated evacuation orders, Rizzo wrote.
Many local government offices are also considering closing on Tuesday in anticipation of Hurricane Michaels landfall.
The National Hurricane Center has predicted that Michael will make landfall between the Florida Panhandle and the Big Bend of Florida as a Category 3 storm on Wednesday.
It could bring life-threatening storm surge and damaging winds to the state.
For Godsake, they dont miss a trick.

Yep
We had a sign in our shop. It was a variation of this:
Lack of Planning on Your Part Does Not Constitute an Emergency on Ours.
I’ll bet they have all voted by now. four or five times each.
And if it looks like they might vote Democrat we want FDOT to pick them up in a boat and take them to a polling place.
Democrats are always looking for more opportunity to cheat. One of there big games is fake voter registrations which they use to make fraudulent votes.
#14. Smarter republicans in the panhandle will register online or by provisional ballot (or have already registered), but they will be getting the hell out of Dodge before the hurricane hits.
As for the Democrats, “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”.
I’m convinced that many people at FR never read the post before they reply.
It’s not like they didn’t know for days the hurricane was coming.
Get ready for massive voter fraud perpetrated in back rooms of highly populated Dem controlled counties. 100% turnout on inflated rolls. An illegal voter walking in off the street on election day without id, that takes too much work.
Someone has to start a rumor that there are 3 times as many Repubs who haven’t registered yet...that’ll change their tune.
Why?!!!!
Well, not to be callous but I’m thinking about the politics too. (Stay safe peeps)
I hope this isn’t one of those partisan democrat hurricanes like the one that reelected Obama. I hope it’s more like the one that made Scott popular in the first place.
It’s hitting the GOP panhandle. We need the people of that region to vote in Scott and DeSantis. Not saying that they should extend the voting deadline though, absolutely not, our voters are already registered I just hope they will be able to vote, I hope the party is on this, arranging absentee ballot drives for example if people end up leaving the state if their house gets smashed.
