A Virginia transgender student was reportedly barred from seeking shelter inside her middle school's locker rooms during a safety drill last month.
WUSA reports that the student, who identifies as female, was unable to go inside the girls' or boys' locker rooms during the drill designed to prepare children for school shootings.
The student's name and the name of her school are not being released in order to protect her identity.
Equality Stafford, an LGBT rights group based in Stafford County, Virginia, posted about the incident on Facebook:
According to the post, the student was instructed to sit in the gym bleachers while teachers debated where to place her. She was eventually made to sit in the hallway until the drill was complete.
"During an event that prepares children to survive an attack by actual assailants, she was treated as if she was so much of a danger to peers that she was left exposed and vulnerable," the post read.
Parents, friends and neighbors are planning to protest at a school board meeting Tuesday, WUSA reports.
Stafford County Public Schools Spokeswoman Sherrie Johnson released this statement following the incident:
Stafford County Public Schools does not comment on individual student incidents to avoid divulging confidential information. However, the new superintendent has requested a review of all protocols and procedures to ensure that all children are treated with dignity and respect. We take such matters very seriously and they will be addressed. The welfare of all students is of the utmost importance for SCPS.
The reason for a drill is to discover problems and address them. BTW you said “girl” but it is a boy who identifies as female. I do agree that the child needs to be protected.
It’s a non-disrobing drill. Why would it matter?
Sounds like a hoax.
First, why is a news group called “click Detroit” concerning itself with something that happened in Virginia?
Second, why didn’t they let the student into the locker room that matched their biological sex, if they weren’t going to let them into the locker of their chosen gender?
Either you are going to accept gender identity, or you are not, but you can’t do NEITHER. Either they belonged in the male locker, or the female locker.
On the other hand, if they were told to go into the biological sex locker, they probably would have refused, and that would have caused the same problem.
Also, now that the student’s parents have informed all the crazy people that the entire student body is being pushed into the two lockers, I’m guessing the bleachers in the gym are probably the safest place to be.
Because the crazy people are going to just rig the lockers before calling in a shooting threat.
And lastly, why would any school be trying to SEGREGATE students by sex during an ACTIVE SHOOTER INCIDENT? YOu get everybody into safe spaces, you don’t waste time pushing all the guys one way, and the girls another way.
This story makes no sense. I almost feel like some pro-LGBT teacher decided to do this to “raise awareness”, except that seems stupid as well.
I agree. And the stupidity that would even lead to such a situation is incredible. If you were actually considering what to do in an active shooter situation the last thing you should do is waste time separating boys from girls. If the nearest defensible room is the girls locker room, then everybody runs in there - pronto - and the area is secured and defended. Same with the boys locker room.
If, by chance, some students were changing at the moment of the attack, then there might be some temporary embarrassment. The same way that there might be embarrassment if there was a sudden fire in the locker room and students had to run out of it to save their lives.
For purposes of the drill the school should have made sure that the intended locker room was clear of changing students, but nobody should be practicing something as stupid as sorting out the boys and the girls before running to cover.
Who knows, maybe next time they will line up in alphabetical order before running for cover.
What they should be doing is having the students run into and barricade themselves in the nearest defensible space while selected teachers break open the armory cabinet and retrieve their heavy weaponry and plate carriers. (They should already have their pistols in a concealed holster.)
It’s not a “she” or a “girl.”
Did they paint a target on her too?

t absolutely apalls me that this sicko is referred to as a woman when we all know that he is a male student. Outrageous that they would change his gender so easily. The student's name and the name of her his school are not being released in order to protect her his identity. This is how this should read, with the male student being referred to as a MALE.
“You can’t shoot me I’m a transsexual”
The student is a male. Stop enabling this crap.
Student with mental issues is unable to breech secured space in rampage killing drill.
Sounds like it worked.
See ... it's hard to have a discussion when your premise is wrong from the beginning ...
This is not a girl. This is not a "she". This is a mentally-disturbed boy.
That being said, he should have moved to the boys' locker room.
I really hate Newspeak.

Orgy room?
Thanks!
Even better. :)
It was a drill. Part of the reasons for having drills is to identify areas here you screw up and correct them. I agree that regardless of what gender he likes to pretend to be, hes a human being and deserves to be protected.
1. He doesnt happen to be transgender. He CHOSE to be transgender.
2. Why would a school instruct kids to go to the locker room corresponding to their gender in an active shooter situation? You should have them go to the nearest safe room
