Scott Kelly, a retired American astronaut with multiple space flights under his belt, apologized Sunday after quoting Winston Churchill and calling the 20th century British prime minister "one of the greatest leaders of modern times."
"Did not mean to offend by quoting Churchill. My apologies. I will go and educate myself further on his atrocities, racist views which I do not support. My point was we need to come together as one nation. We are all Americans. That should transcend partisan politics," Kelly wrote on Twitter in the evening.

He should tweet out some quotes from Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt two of the most racist president since the Civil War and see how much blow back he gets from these arbiters of Political Correctness

Kelly spent too much time in space, and got his brain radiation-fried.

Twin brother and both were astronauts. The only siblings who exist where both have been launched into space. Scott was on the space station for a year.
Churchill saved the entire world from racism. Racism of the worst sort.
Churchill had to be dragged kicking and screaming into Normandy in 44' by Marshall and the Americans.
He vetoed the Cross-Channel invasion planned in 43'.
Americans were in no position to argue after Kasserine.
for pete’s sake, Britain was literally fighting for it’s national life in 1943. The Germans were constantly bombing the island nation and preparing for an invasion. I can’t imagine much attention being paid to any other part of the Empire.
Of course, Obama hated his guts and had a statue of Churchill (bust) removed from the Oval Office and returned to England.
Winston Churchill is one of my heroes.

Someone needs to tweet THAT, to fool Kelly.
To my mind, Churchill was the “man of the century.” If the evils of Naziism or Communism that Churchill opposed had won, the Progressives would likely be surf-riding a different “wave of the future.”
