Scott Kelly, a retired American astronaut with multiple space flights under his belt, apologized Sunday after quoting Winston Churchill and calling the 20th century British prime minister "one of the greatest leaders of modern times."
"Did not mean to offend by quoting Churchill. My apologies. I will go and educate myself further on his atrocities, racist views which I do not support. My point was we need to come together as one nation. We are all Americans. That should transcend partisan politics," Kelly wrote on Twitter in the evening.

Just backed himself into silence. Can’t quote anybody because he wants this to be one world. Whatever he says is going to be offensive to someone. Maybe space made him an air head.

Im sure there were some missteps by the British and Churchill, but every attempt to alleviate the price/supply issues present in India at the time seemed to be defeated by the greediness of the Calcutta Rice market. The British Army confiscated rice and shipping to prevent its movement.
It was a deliberate attempt at genocide, much like they had done in South Africa to the Boers in the 1900's but with a much higher body count.

Can you provide some links that I can do my own research on this matter?

It’s a rather rude man who doesn’t share his imbidings.
This started about Churchill and you are now waxing retrospective on the Revolutionary War.
Buh-bye now. Don’t forget your meds.

Bengal is the eastern area of what was Colonial India, much of it now is Bangladesh.
Subhas Chandra Bose was actually from the area and it was strongly Indian nationalist.
Brit administrators confiscated the rice and transportation and millions starved.
Profiteers made money on what was left. That's what happens in man caused famines.

Pretty pathetic. Churchill was not the epitome of evil, he was a great wartime leader who led Britain courageously and successfully through some of its darkest days. That is the single most important fact about his life and career. His faults cannot erase that fact and should prevent no one from quoting him, regardless of how many hothouse flowers are traumatized by hearing his words.

because without Churchill, we would ALL be speaking German.Actually if it wasn't for the United States, Europe would have been a German Empire to the Urals.

I am beginning to question if the further funding of NASA is warranted since it produces such anti-American idiots such as the Kelley twins, Sen. Nelson, and Sen. Glenn ...

Yes, I remember his funeral very well. It was televised. It was on Saturday January 30, 1965. I remember how fortunate I was that it was held on a Saturday and I could watch it. It is one of only a couple of events which has stuck in my memory so strongly.
Youtube has a very compelling five minute recap of Churchill's funeral set to the Elgar's "I vow to thee". The one thing that I find most moving is the faces of the commoners who lined the streets. Read their faces. You will learn more from them than all the whacked out spacemen and liberals combined. Read their faces.
