Trump has brought back God to the party. Not long ago we were questioning if there would be a divided Republican party. Trump is bringing the party back together in an unexpected way. Never Trumpers are seeing the light. Thank you President Trump.
Rubio voted FOR confirmation.
I heard them call Rubios name could have sworn I heard him say aye!!!
As I understand it, they could have flown Daines back and held the vote open, then Pence would break the tie if it were 50-50. But I wasn’t aware Rubio didn’t vote. Weird.
Agree, that was one gutsy call by President Trump. You never know what might go wrong at the last possible minute.
Yes, Manchin might have tried to screw us in that way, but he would have been kissing goodbye his electoral prospects. ALso, there is a period before the voting closes, so possibly McConnell could have prevailed upon Murkowski to change to a yes vote just to counteract such treachery. I don’t know if she would have done it, but the appeal would have been strong to avoid letting her “friend” Daines take the fall for a losing vote.
Anyway, I was nervous about any possible last-minute betrayals (especially from a Republican such as Flakey), but it looks like we are now in the clear.... at least until the next confirmation process.
You think she would've have done it if there weren't in her best interest?
Could Pence have voted if need be?
My bad, I read an article that said he missed the vote. I think now it was referencing a different vote.
Where did you get the idea that Rubio didn’t vote?

So if she would have backstabbed Trump, it would have been tied. Trump always has a plan and a VP ?
Two Republicans voted "NO" in the Clarence Thomas confirmation vote in 1991. That was the last time a Republican Senator every cast a "NO" vote in a confirmation vote for a Supreme Court justice nominated by a Republican president.
I think that streak is still alive if Murkowski voted "Present" today.
My comments are hereby retracted.
I wonder why?
Im sure Annie made a beautiful bride. Im sorry this process added stress to this special time for your and your husbands families.
ALso, just a Manchin vote defection would not have been enough, because VP Pence was standing by in case he might be needed to break a tie vote. So 49-49 would not have done the trick, it would have ended up 50-49 with Pence doing the tie-breaker.
Now if Manchin AND Murkowski had proved treacherous, that would have been horrible. But it seems that they do have some semblance of decency.....
No, those two derps would have demanded the wedding date be changed. They would have not allowed anyone to overshadow what would have been a great attention-whore opportunity for them. *ack! spitooie!
Family first!
From above in the thread - but it was since corrected.
