Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather argued Friday that Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) missed an opportunity to be a "hero" by announcing that she would vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
In a Facebook post after Collins announced her plans to vote for Kavanaguh during a lengthy speech on the Senate floor, the veteran anchor called the nomination battle a "devastating loss" for "most women" and some men.
"So Collins misses her moment to be a hero, and the old bulls win again," Rather wrote in the post.
"For most women and many men its a bitter, devastating loss. Which makes it all the sweeter for the old bulls, and for the forces of power, privilege and money everywhere," he added.
Rather wrote that his wife was "furious and deeply disappointed" by the day's news that Republicans have the votes necessary to confirm Kavanaugh on Saturday.
"Fill your lungs with the determined air of action. I find myself humming that old but powerful anthem of the Civil Rights Era. 'We'll walk hand in hand!' 'We are not afraid!' 'We shall overcome!'" he wrote, invoking Civil Rights-era messages.

ROFL!
no worries Danny boy, the most important One has noticed what is going on and who is on His side or not in each choice/moment.
Next thing you know, hell be posting on MySpace.
“By spring, Rather will be hanging out at Yahoo Messenger.”
HA! Or worse yet, ICQ.
Here is a point to ponder dan: in 68 the wacko left showed the electorate whom they were in Chicago and the dems got smoked. The last two weeks culminated with those harpies and misfits desecrating our senate hearing with lies and threatening families of representatives and witnesses does not play well in our society. Courage Dan is not caving to the mob. In summary GFY.
I thought ole Dan has passed away already.
If we have to live in the world of idiots that Rather seems to want us to live in, identity politics would become the law RATHER than the legal system we have come to depend on, based on the rights of the individual.
This has nothing to do with women, it has everything to do with the corrupt and cynical modus operandi of the Democrat Party apparatus, namely destruction of its enemies by any means possible or handy.
The #MeToo “movement” is just one of those means. Christine Blasley Ford is disposable, a tool to be used. The goal is naked political power, via the control of the Supreme Court. If idiots like Rather even began to fathom this, they might rethink their ridiculous blather. Dan Blather.
WRONG DANO, she is a hero
the Rathers approve of mob rule? nice.
Breaking news: Old man complaining on Facebook.
Dan Rather.. Forgotten but not gone!
stfu Dan Blather!! So you are sad that the latest #FakeNews fraud from the left has failed. I suppose you wish Christine Ford had forged a hoax letter from the 1980s to “corroborate” her tall tale. She could have taken lessons from your crew, except that #Rathergate was also a pitiful failure!!
I guess us all civilians should just shut up and defer to Rather’s professional journalistic insight.
Is any farce in American public life truly complete until Dan Rather has weighed in on it?
“Which makes it all the sweeter for the old bulls, and for the forces of power, privilege and money everywhere”
So Nancy Pelosi is doing her happy dance?
The theme I am getting is that the libs think because there have been injustices against women that Brett Kavanaugh should be their sacrificial lamb.
So long as we can keep “The Ministry of Truth” fictional, Dan Rather will be a mosquito, a thin buzz just moments from a swat!
He’s a demented old fool. Kavanaugh is innocent and the entire democrat establishment is a criminal organization.
Who were the sour looking women behind Collins as she was speaking?
Heifer Heitkamp on left..dont know the other.
Whoever is running against her should use that picture in his campaign ads.
I don’t like Susan Collins. I don’t like Mitch McConnell. However, Collins’ speech yesterday was epic in content (time, too! as someone said, it was headed for being a mini series). She stood for what was RIGHT - the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. She used her head .... looked at the evidence and could plainly see that what Ford said didn’t add up & was uncorroborated. Rather’s comment is so “twisted” - she IS a hero for truth, justice and the American Way. His comment implies lying or ignoring the truth just to be a “hero” to a political contingent - so warped as so many are these days & why the country is in such trouble. As for Mitch, I cut him a LOT of slack these days because I keep going back to what he did for this country by refusing to allow Obama to get Merrick Garland on SCOTUS. Just let the thought of a liberal “Justice Garland” sink in for a few moments in light of Gorsuch and now Kavanaugh being on the bench.
NO, Dan .... Collins and McConnell are heroes to me, each in their own way. GO AWAY, Dan - YOU are a proven liar and one of the reasons the “media” is the enemy of America. BE GONE, you evil man.
Liberals seek to become heroes. Good people seek to do whats right and in the process often become heroes.
