By the second day, Friday, October 5, 2018
more folks had trickled in.
Again the grill was fired up
and again 'Gunner was the man in charge.
He fixed chicken that was perfection!
We had Pen's yummy potato salad, Mom's beans, another salad....
....let's just say, we weren't going hungry! :)
We did more "jawin'" of course
and were introduced to a great new "recruit"
....thanks to TheMom. :)
NY Texan's frozen margaritas were made
in honor of the one that always brought them before.
Serious stuff, that!
I'm sure they cured all the world's ills!
...and they had a rapt audience.

Was wondering if you were gonna post any pix tonight. LOL! You said you’d taken a lot.
The pavilion looks a lot roomier than where you were last year. Nice and airy too.
How many times did the peacocks wake you up with their screaming? They can sure make a ruckus when they want to!

Then came the day that is the reason for the whole thing.
The TCMS, to honor El Roy [TexasCowboy]
....and now the ones who are no longer with us to celebrate.
The shoot on Saturday, October 6, 2018, was held at the Hicksville Gun Range.
Lots of guns and some nice loud tannerite made for a fun day!
The nice thing about this range is
no range nazis.
They treat us like the responsible adults we are.
Windflier's and Jen's boys enjoyed getting to blow up some tannerite!
And after the shoot comes....
...you guessed it! More food!
This time Charlie's amazingly wonderful brisket and grilled chicken
complemented by side dishes of
MORE potato salad, Jen's cole slaw,
and Mom's beans--no one does 'em like hers!
She also made her grammas buttermilk chess pie
which we enjoyed later at the pavillion. Mmmm-mmm!
The deaf border collie that lives at the range
would have rung the dinner bell
If he had opposable thumbs. :)
TheMom was relaxing as we waited for the Dinner Is Served call!

It’s the same pavillion, just fewer folks to fill it up. There was a lovely breeze most of the time. It’s funny....those peacocks never made any noise that I heard. Just the crows in the morning and the coyotes at night. But it’s country sounds...all good!

For some reason I thought y’all stayed at a different place this year, as well as going to a different shooting range.
You must have taken pix from a different angle last year because I seem to recall seeing walls rather than open spaces.
Or it could be my pea brain just doesn’t want to work tonight. LOL!!
WOW! Quiet peacocks? Y’all got lucky!
And lucky again if the crows were only noisy in the morning. They’re noisy all day long here.

The last evening there was just spent
telling more stories, eating [of course!], and some played darts.
The drive back to the cottages from the range
was interesting and quite beautiful.
...and very remote! LOL! Kinda wish I had a home
along that quiet country road!
We all just kind of relaxed
and I think humblegunner and Bacon Man
were plotting the food courses.
'Gunner made his famous sausage/bacon kabobs
and Bacon Man...well, he made the awesome pig candy
I took the video of [first page of thread].
Jen made the best baked ziti I've ever eaten!
I woke from a nap hearing rain on the roof.
So I went on my deck and shared the moment with a friend.
After which...
...God renewed his promise with a beautiful double rainbow!
I take it to mean we WILL be back!
Waiting for the cooks to start their projects. LOL!
Wneighbor's hubby looking skyward
as 'Gunner guides his cool drone around the area.
After the meal, we were serenaded by Mom's friend.
Pen was shy and didn't join in too much......this time. LOL!
Sweet ending to a practically perfect weekend with
a wonderful, talented and fun-to-be-with group of Freepers!
Next year....y'all all need to come! Heah?

Two of the walls are solid except for a double door at the front of one side. The front has two large windows with no glass and an open door and the other side has a fireplace and then is mostly open from it to the back of the room. The patio where the grills and picnic table are are outside that open side. There are picnic tables scattered around the grounds and lots of butterfly gardens.
They are a butterfly habitat and a wildlife/bird perserve. No eagles near the cottages, though the owner said that there are some at another part of the lake.
