Can you imagine CNN crediting Michelle Obama's stylist for her look, rather than the First Lady's own innate fashion sense? Unthinkable!
But in a New Day report on Melania Trump's visit to a game park in Kenya, CNN international correspondent Farai Sevenzo snarked:
"The elephants were very happy to see her feeding them with a bottle. She was dressed, really, in the classic kind of Out of Africa by Sydney Pollack way, or even John Huston's, The African Queen: the jodhpurs, the boots. The color was all there. And the stylist should be very proud of himself."
At the end of his report, Sevenzo said: "tonight, she'll be heading off to the National Gallery to get a bit of culture."
Perhaps a harmless remark, that last one. But again, can you imagine CNN suggesting that Michelle Obama was going to "get" a bit of culture?

Yeah.... and let’s be honest.... she can just barely pull it off.... actually... I’m not sure she pulls it off. That looks like a seat cover from a 1960’s vintage chevrolet
I’m sure there’s some significance in the color and pattern there, she’s always on point with that sort of symbolism on international visits. So, maybe it’s not her best but there’s a purpose served. She’s a goodwill ambassador.

Nonsense. Anything looks good when our Melania is wearing it. She is also very sensitive to the feelings of her hosts, and when home, her guests. She chooses her outfits with care, to ensure that she is reflecting the maximum in good will and respect.
If our beloved First Lady turns up in an outfit that’s a departure from her usual ultra chic style, we can assume it’s been well thought out, and that Mrs Trump has the best of intentions.
Exactly! Apparently these critics do not know that stripes are very popular with African women.
