FIVE Republican women voted for cloture this morning, including Collins, Ernst, Fischer, Capito and Hyde-Smith.
If we do lose this do to treason, we need to win the midterms and renominate 'K' and shove him down their throat.
As pessimistic as I naturally am, it does make sense that she would want to give a speech prior to the vote to announce that she’s voting yes. She knows the feminists will go absolutely nuts on her. This will be a way to let them get out their anger over the next 24 hours, so that when the vote happens in Kavanaugh is confirmed, the feminists will at least know what’s going to happen, and they will already screaming about the next steps they’re going to take, as opposed to them calling for Collins’s head on a platter at the exact moment that the vote is taking place.
I could certainly be wrong, but this seems to be a plausible possibility. I would not assume the fact that she’s giving a speech automatically means that she’s voting no.
If Manchin becomes the deciding vote, it may buy him votes in the upcoming election, give him a chance at another 6 years as a Senator. And if Schumer gives him too hard a time, he could threaten to switch parties.
Could be an accident, so just asking... Does waiting til Rush is off air indicate what she will announce?
Manchin has said he will not be a “yes” vote if it’s the one vote that confirms Kavanaugh so we’ll see how the numbers play out.
But then that makes Joe Mansion the sole decider of whether or not Kavanaugh gets on the SC. Don’t think for a minute the rats won’t threaten his life if he puts Kavanaugh on the court!
The only thing I’m holding onto is MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, Collins is making her announcement of YES so that everyone will leave her alone.... It’s a stretch but that’s the only reason I can think of for her to make the announcement - unless she just wants to ruin this good man and his family.
If she and Murkowski vote no he’s defeated.

Collins runs for re-election next year. If she votes no I believe she won’t run again.

Well, we can look at the positive side of this, not the norm for FR...but just for fun...if she DOES announce she is a Yes vote, it’s game over and Judge Kavanaugh is Justice Kavanaugh withose same 51 votes.
The Lindsey Graham plan -— Trump renominates Kavanaugh immediately & puts it to the voters to decide i.e. they can vote out Dems in November and put in enough Repub Senators to confirm Kavanaugh after the new Repubs are seated .... I think it would motivate a lot of R’s to vote out D’s.

If she really votes no then her political career is over. Same thing with Manchin. If they do, Trump should re-nominate him after the midterms. Due process vs. a mob is an argument we can always win at the ballot box.
