That’s a very non-comment comment on Manchin’s part.
Guess he’s still gauging the political wind.
He's deciding whether to join the parade after the street sweeper has passed by. I would almost rather have Flake vote no to keep it 50-50 to keep the red state Dems away.
What the bastard is doing is trying to get promises of pork for his vote, but he will never vote yes until he isn’t needed.
Anything can happen, but--this seems like an unequivocal "Yes" signal. It's like saying, "I'm not playing the Democratic Party's kneecapping game."
If he says he isn't looking before 22, he's giving a finger to all the hard work and slander of all the important players, since that's all they talked about. Then he has the temerity to call Kavanaugh a "gentleman," "professional," and "father," when he's supposed to damn himbecause patriarchy and privilege or something.
Now, I don't know the 4-D chess of all these things, but it looks as if he's giving WVa voters the signal, "I'm not going to diss your President or his judge," and he wants it to sink in before Election Day, so he gets credit for that. It also strikes me that if he turns against Kavanaugh based on no additional evidence, his voters might hang him as a traitor.
Sounds like a Yes to me.
Sounds like he is ignoring the Dr Ford chapter, but might be considering the ice cubes event.
He’s waiting until he knows Kav will be confirmed, then he’ll add his meaningless vote to the yea column.
Prediction: He'll vote to confirm. Before casting his vote, he will have already informed the powers that be on the democrat side, that if they dare seek revenge on him for his vote, he'll switch parties and add to the republican red wave.
He is trying to figure out which way he will lose more votes.
