It could be your carrier doesn’t participate, but most major carriers do. If you just have a flip phone, you may not have gotten it.

If you just have a flip phone, you may not have gotten it. Thanks, maybe that explains it. But I get text messages from my carrier telling that my bill's been paid, so I assumed I'd get the alert, too. Guess not.

My wife and I have IPhones from a joint Sprint account. Mine is a 7 Plus and her’s is still a 6. Her’s alerted twice — mine zero.

My Flip Phone got it. Just, FYI. I get Amber, Silver and Severe Weather alerts, too. In bad weather the internet (satellite) and TV usually go down.
