The bodies of more than 30 children who were attending a Christian Bible camp on a northern Indonesian island were discovered Monday amid wreckage brought to the region by Fridays magnitude 7.5 earthquake and ensuing tsunami, a Red Cross spokesperson told ABC News.
The tragic discovery marks the latest reported deaths in the catastrophe. As of Tuesday, the death toll increased to at least 1,234. Indonesian rescue workers said a mudslide caused by the earthquake engulfed the church. Red Cross spokeswoman Aulia Arriani said 34 bodies of the Bible camp attendees have been found, while another 52 remained missing. The camp is located on the island of Sulawesi, about 170 miles south of Palu, a city of 380,000 residents which received the brunt of destruction. The magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck at dusk Friday, generating a tsunami as high as 20 feet in some places.

Puerto Rico claims that it lost nearly twice as many people in Hurricane Maria. Which is ridiculous.
Oh my
Earthquake and third world countries always = massive death & destruction. Tragic, but true.
With all the disaster prep and response infrastructure we have, I hope we fare better when the big one happens.
Did they blame Trump,yet?
My FIRST thought.
They’re probably too busy at the moment celebrating the deaths of the kids at Bible School.
Just wait six months. There’s still time for an epidemic or famine that can be blamed on Pres. Trump.
So very sad. I’m sure these babies went straight into the arms of the Lord. May all their loved ones be consoled.
When it's your time, it's your time. Indonesia is 80 percent muzzie, or purports to be, and while there are fanatics there who want every other faith wiped out, the official policy remains live and let live. Thanks to the verdant landscape -- itself rare in majority muzzie countries -- and economic system (more like Hong Kong than Tehran) it's not unlikely that most people don't take the mullah's **** too seriously. When the big tsunami hit some years ago, killing 100s of 1000s I thing, some a-hole mullah claimed it was retribution for not being all muzzie all the time. It's still startling that, in such a place, the tsunami found what amounts to a needle in a haystack.
