President Trump touted the beginning of what he called the seventh FBI investigation into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, expressing confidence for the judge's nomination, despite facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
Just started, tonight, our 7th FBI investigation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Trump tweeted on Friday night. He will someday be recognized as a truly great Justice of The United States Supreme Court!

Trump asked the FBI to investigate sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh after Senate Republicans agreed to a one-week investigation, temporarily delaying the judge's nomination to the Supreme Court.
Ive ordered the FBI to conduct a supplemental investigation to update Judge Kavanaughs file. As the Senate has requested, this update must be limited in scope and completed in less than one week, Trump said in the statement released by the White House.
The Senate Judiciary Committee requested that Trump instruct the FBI to conduct a supplemental investigation after Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) secured a deal to delay a floor vote on the nomination for a week.
I think it would be proper to delay the floor vote for up to but not more than one week in order to let the FBI to do an investigation limited in time and scope, he said during the Senate Judiciary Committee vote on Kavanuagh.
Flake said he was voting to advance the judge with that understanding and said he has spoken to a few other members on my side of the aisle who support it as well.
The Arizona Republican added that senators should do what we can to make sure that we do all do diligence with a nomination this important.
The move came a day after the committee heard testimonies from Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, the first woman to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
Ford went public with her allegations on Sept. 16 in an interview with The Washington Post, alleging that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her while the two were at a high school party in the 1980s.
Ford detailed her allegations in a gripping testimony Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The now 51-year-old college professor said she feared Kavanaugh might rape her and accidentally kill her when he allegedly put his hand over her mouth to stifle her screams for help.
Kavanaugh denied the allegations brought by Ford, as well as several other allegations of sexual misconduct that have surfaced against him, in a heated testimony following Ford's.
Sealing in agreement with you Mr. President. By the grace of God!
Trump forces the issue
and presents the contrast.
Genius.
If Kavanaugh survives this, I tend to agree.
He’ll be the greatest stickler to the Constitution in history when he rules on anything Democrats bring before him. Heheh.
President Trump has, what some call “second sight” and others say is “prophetic revelation”. Some of his tweets from years ago are eerily accurate. I believe him in this tweet. I don’t think he’s just saying it to keep us optimistic.
This was a serious mistake by all GOP involved including Trump.
Flake and Dems are playing them.
He know something, as usual. Playing his cards close to the vest.

for a limited period of time; not permanently.
Some hysterical people here on FR with their hair on fire need to calm down and allow the process to work out. IOW, go to bed!
I think he just had a really good talk with Kavanaugh to make sure that there wasn’t anything in his history that could be found and used against him.
I don’t doubt that Kavanaugh is a good man. Anybody who, likely mostly due to his mom, who kept calendars from his high school years and forward is not going to have anything in his history to be found.
Trump’s MO probably will include personally calling Flake, using his tool bag (discussion/expectations/thanks/etc) to lock in what happens, leading up to Flakes voting ‘yay’ in the full Senate vote.
While the circus goes on in DC, Trump has been quietly hitting the campaign trail in key states. We may gain key Senate seats in the midterm. Then the Dems will not be able stop a Kavanaugh confirmation.
If somehow Kavanaugh is denied that seat Trump’s next choice will probably look like someone who could’ve sat on Ghengis Khan’s council of elders. Watch out what you wish for Democrats.
Well at least this isn't Rod Rosenstein ordering an open ended investigation by Mueller.
This is Trump making the order, limiting the scope and limiting the duration.
Kavanaugh’s done, stick a fork in him. Trump and the GOP have so royally betrayed us. They deserve to burn in hell.
They’ll just do the same to them.
Failure is not an option here.
There were reports earlier this week that Senate investigators were interviewing 2 men who claimed to have been the real perps in the Ford incident. If the FBI interviews them and suggests they are credible then Kavanaugh is cleared.
Not yet. He might be.
>> Flake and Dems are playing them.
No one is oblivious to the chicanery.
