According to the letter, she has no grounds to file a request because at the time of the incident, there was a one-year statute of limitations on assault and attempted rape complaints which were at that time, misdemeanors.

As a side note, I used to have a T-shirt that said: "Sex is a misdemeanor. The more I mis, da meanor I get."

While the statute of limitations has expired, it doesn’t mean an investigation to determine the truthfulness of such allegations wouldn’t be conducted. It means that they can’t bring up charges.
