While the statute of limitations has expired, it doesn’t mean an investigation to determine the truthfulness of such allegations wouldn’t be conducted. It means that they can’t bring up charges.

True, there wouldn’t be any investigation into the actual allegations, but the person making the claims could be subject to prosecution if it was found out they made false claims.
