2017 FBI report Maine: 121 incidents of violent crime per 100,000 residents.
Vermont: 165.8 incidents per 100,000.
New Hampshire: 198.7 incidents per 100,000
New Hampshire is once again in an enviable spot following the release of the FBIs latest crime rate data.
The Granite State had the third-lowest rate of violent crime in 2017 198.7 incidents per 100,000 residents trailing only Vermont (165.8) and Maine (121). Violent crime was down slightly nationwide, and it was the second year in a row that New Hampshires rate decreased...
That disparity has long been the case without any clear explanation according to Cesar Rebellon, a professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire.
There is also no definite explanation for why northern New England tends to have a lower violent crime rate than other regions, although evidence points to several factors...

Vermonts’ Violent Crimes=Each And Every Time Senator Bernie Sanders Opens His Mouth
LOL Any man on the street could truthfully tell the Prof why. How stupid can he be? The answer is a plain a the nose on your face, and as simple and black and white.
“Hey,violent crime is going down for some unknown reason so, why do we have all these people in prison?”...
It’s ok to live in New Hampshire.
Carry permits are easy too get in NH; you don’t even need a permit in Vermont.
And, of course, PC forbids us mentioning anything regarding race or ethnicity.
New Hampshire would be even lower if we could put a fence along the Massachusetts border.
An article from a union rag? Oh how poverty makes crime.. if only everyone were a union slave... Yep, trustworthy.
As we have clearly seen, wealthy people are very criminal, more heinous than others, they just never, ever get prosecuted. Highly paid lawyers and friends in the ruling class go a long way in our equally protective Constitutional country.
Hillary, lynch and co are still living the high life.
You don’t need a permit in Maine anymore, either.
I believe the tri-state area of ME-VT-NH is the largest contiguous constitutional carry area in the lower 48, and, as a bonus, we don’t shoot each other much, either.
Poor things, prevented from saying the truth that they know for fear of being called racist or islamophobe!
They know the situation. It’s clear as spring water to them.
Hint: The nyt is cackling about New Hampshire being “too White.” That may provide a clue. The nyt wants New Hampshire to become like detroit.
Just giving visual aid to why NH has low crime.
Just sayin'
Careful. Big Brother is watching...
Yo! White Bread Power to the people!
Shoot. Now I’ll be labeled a bread racist. They be axing me why I don’t like Pumpernickel or what about a good deep dark wheat bread?
I be like, yeah, they are okay once in a while but not as a steady diet.
African American population.
New Hampshire- 1.22%
Vermont- .87%
Maine- 1.03%
National average- 17.9%

It would be an interesting project to write a book on the varying regions of the United States and their violent crime and homicide rates, tied to the firearms laws and culture of firearms ownership. I would have a section on Northern New England (NH, VT, and ME) about it’s relatively casual laws accompanied by low violence rates.
Also the Atlantic area (MA, NY, RI, MD, DE, NJ, and DC) with it’s generally stricter laws accompanied by higher crime and violence rates. The Old South would include VA, WV, FL, GA, AL, MO, MS, LA, NC, SC, TN, MS, and AR. I would write a separate chapter on Texas as it started out as basically an independent country with it’s own unique culture of firearms ownership and laws. The Old West would include PA, KY, OH, MI, IL, IA, MN, WI, and IN. The New West would highlight NB, the Dakotas, MT, ID, NV, and AZ. And finally the Pacific would be about CA, OR, WA, HI, and AK.
You could discuss when these areas were settled and populated by what cultures and races primarily and degree of urbanization, etc and how crime rates and firearms laws and ownership culture were uniquely tied to all of this.
Third lowest rate of violent crime. Third lowest rate of blacks and Hispanics? Third lowest urbanized state?
