WASHINGTON - Republican senators have selected Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell to question Judge Brett Kavanaugh and the woman who has accused the Supreme Court nominee of sexually assaulting her when they were teenagers, a top senator announced Tuesday.
Mitchell, the sex crimes bureau chief for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office in Phoenix, will query the two at Thursday's highly anticipated Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. A registered Republican, Mitchell has worked for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for 26 years.
The division Mitchell heads deals with family violence, physical and sexual abuse of children, and sex offenses, including sex assault cases. Mitchell oversees about 40 to 50 people in the division, said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery. Mitchell has a long history of investigating years-old sex crimes and allegations that are difficult to corroborate, including in her role re-examining hundreds of cases that were unresolved and inadequately investigated by the sheriff's office, Montgomery said."

may be what they were going for to show they are being accomodating to Ford, and those senators wanting to hear her.
Folks...have you noticed that the prosecutor chosen by the Senate Judicial Committee was identified and a current clear photo of her was posted all over the press & media immediately.
No such luck with Christine Ford...just a couple of washed out photos, from her “has been” past. Something is wrong with this woman. Normally, all types of photos and images of Ms. Ford would be on the cover of every magazine, newspaper, TV, internet, etc. in the country. What gives?
she’s gettin her hair done and serious make up to look the part the dems want her to play so they can’t release recent photo because it will contrast with her costume face on thursday.
Let’s hope home base politics do not affect her work at this hearing. Having worked for Maricopa County for 26 yrs means she is more than likely a conservative. But... Maricopa County is now about as Blue liberal as you can get, especially the Sheriff.

Remember this... all a woman on the stand need do is cry and sigh, and she'll have Murkowski and Collins eating out of her hand. Those two, along with Flake, are very likely on her side already.

Committee hired a sex crime prosecutor to question Kavanuagh (defendant) and Plaintiff (Ford) the job of a prosecutor is to win the case for the plaintiff and prove the defendant guilty. Wonder who will get the tough questions in this deal? Why don’t the Repub just let Ford question herself

Looks like Grassley made sure that Kavanuagh would be at a disadvantage with hopes the hired prosecutor tares him up and gives a pass to poor Ford
I believe the hearing is public but I hope Grassley restricts access to the gallery. There doesn't need to be a repeat of Kavenaugh's first appearance. Blasey Ford had a number of demands regarding press access, who can be there, how many cameras, etc.
She will likely have to ask Ford by phone as Ford probably won’t show.
Folks, Im from AZ and we know Rachel Mitchell. This is probably the best pick anywhere in this country, in fact this may draw her away from dealing with some of the sexual assault cases constantly in front of her office. If you are looking for someone to ask questions like this is a political lynching she is not the one, if you want the best person to question and reveal the facts she is the woman. She has been doing this for decades and her record is unblemished. Plus, shes one heck of a percussionist! Decades at the North Phoenix Baptist Church and now at Scottsdale Bible.
Rest easy folks, she will ask the right questions and get to the truth. No secret agendas with Rachel.
