Discovery: House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows said Tuesday he wants Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to testify before Congress under oath regarding details contained in a New York Times report last week.
The Times report claims that Rosenstein once offered to secretly record POTUS Trump inside the Oval Office while wanting to “recruit” top Trump administration officials to get rid of the president via the 25th Amendment — a majority of Cabinet members voting for removal.
The Times says that Rosenstein shared those plans with “other Justice Department and FBI officials,” who of course gave the paper their details anonymously.
During meetings in July 2017, Rosenstein allegedly made the explosive suggestion to other Justice Department and FBI officials that someone secretly record POTUS.

Question: Did Rod or one of his associates plant the story at the NY Times?
Betcha’ Rosenstein lies his ass off because the FBI can legally lie to anyone they want.
He found out later that he was wrong...that the staff was behind POTUS.
According to this scenario, Rosenstein, finding himself way out on a limb and all alone, began to backtrack.
If this story is accurate (and it well may not be), Rosenstein has been exposed and will either be used as bait to hook bigger fish...or he will be permitted to retire.

Rosenstein’s not in the FBI. He works for the Justice Department.

Do you really think Trump will fire him? RR is outrageously defying Trump on the FISA docs and getting away with it. Think about it for a moment...Trump is letting Rosenweasel keep the American people from seeing the documents that would expose sedition. He must have some power over Trump.
Based on what is going on I don’t see Trump firing him despite the obvious mountain of evidence to support doing that.

I think RR should be fired just for his panic stricken antics Monday when he thought he was going to be fired (or resignation accepted) and started leaking it.
The stock market dropped because this guy was worried over something that didn’t even happen.
Same as he was upset when Trump fired Comey and started talking about the 25th Amendment and wiring McCabe for the interview. Now he says Trump is fine and 25th not appropriate. What does that say about his judgement ?
The only relevant timing issue is upsetting the election. Also, I think the sourcing on the NYT Rosenstein story should be better understood before Trump acts.
Who wants him to fire RR (and Sessions and Kelly, since they were part of the 25th discussions) now ?
Why did this story take the NYT a year to put together ?
Who gave them the McCabe memos?
Who verified that the memos supposedly by McCabe were accurate?
the NYT is not going to take the word of McCabe alone. And the DOJ is not going to tell the NYT “the memos are accurate, go ahead and publish”.
Who verified the memos were accurate and unaltered?
Frankly, I think the last question points the finger at Mueller, since there isn’t anyone else.
Or maybe the story was fake but the news was real?
Maybe things are coming to a head right before the midterms? Some say Trump plays the long game. I have no clue if RR is in on the game or is going to be asked to resign.
Even if not. What makes Under Oath the Unbreakable Oath [Potter]?
No one dies if he lies. He has to be caught in a lie, and then prosecuted for it.
Who has the political will to hold any of these criminals accountable?
