~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Fort Jackson, South Carolina Fort Jackson is a United States Army installation, which TRADOC operates on for Basic Combat Training (BCT), and is located within the city of Columbia, South Carolina. This installation is named for Andrew Jackson, a United States Army General and seventh President of the United States of America (18291837) who was born in the border region of North and South Carolina. Fort Jackson is the largest and most active initial entry training center in the U.S. Army, training 50 percent of all soldiers and 60 percent of the women entering the Army each year. Providing the Army with new soldiers is the post's primary mission. 35,000 potential soldiers attend basic training and 8,000 advanced individual training soldiers train at Fort Jackson annually. Soldiers who have trained or worked at Fort Jackson live by the base's motto, "Victory Starts Here." The training is provided by the 165th, and 193rd Infantry Brigades Monday through Sunday for a ten-week period. The post has other missions as well. While some military installations have experienced downsizing and closure in past years, Fort Jackson has added several new schools and training institutions since 1995 including the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, the Department of Defense Chaplain Center and School, and the National Center for Credibility Assessment, part of the Defense Intelligence Agency. In 2007 the Army consolidated all of its training facilities for drill sergeants at Fort Jackson, and in 2009 Command Sergeant Major Teresa King became the first woman to head what is now the sole drill sergeant school for the U.S. Army. Fort Jackson encompasses more than 52,000 acres of land, including 100 ranges and field training sites and more than 1,000 buildings. Soldiers, civilians, retirees and family members make up the Fort Jackson community that continues to grow in numbers and facilities. An additional 10,000 soldiers attend courses at the Soldier Support Institute, Chaplain Center and School and Drill Sergeant School annually. 12,000 military families make Fort Jackson their home. Close to 3,500 civilians are employed at Fort Jackson and 46,000-plus retirees and their families receive services from this base. Learn More About Fort Jackson HERE!! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Please remember: The Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops. The Canteen is family friendly. Let's have fun! We pray for your continued strength, to be strong in the face of adversity. We pray for your safety, that you will return to your families and friends soon. We pray that your hope, courage, and dignity remain unbroken, so that you may show others the way. Yeah, 70s and 80s trump 90s and 100s every time they’re tried! LOL! I’m SO over summer!
Glad you got some more rain. How much in the gauge this round?

WOW! Sounds fabulous!!!!!!! Glad you were able to get away to have all that fun and see so many cool places. The envy runneth deep here. LOL
Herdin’ these kittehs is definitely a challenge! Our most recent addition is 6 mos. old now and is a real firecracker. If she’s awake, she’s in motion and she keeps everyone else stirred up. Suvi isn’t here tonight, though, since I left her at the vet clinic overnight to be spayed in the morning. That way I don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to take her in. That’s bedtime. :-)

70s and 80s trump 90s and 100s every time theyre tried! You bet cha! I'm more than over summer! I just hope we have an autumn this year and don't go from summer to winter. Not ready for cold just yet.
Had to go out to look at the rain gauge. We've gotten .6 an inch today, giving us 2 inches yesterday total and today. Not too bad. They've had flooding in some parts of TN and a possible tornado this afternoon a little north of us. Glad we missed out on all of that!

Good evening, radu...is it still hot? Do the beans need more rain?
I knew we had a rain storm rush through this afternoon, and the WIND is still here, but they say heavy rain and hail was here.
It is really blowing!!

A slow, cool, beautiful fall would be sooooooo nice. I’m not in any hurry for winter at all! I can handle being hot better than being cold.
Not sure what to expect this winter. The Old Farmer’s Almanac calls for above normal temps for most of the country this year. The Farmer’s Almanac says the opposite.
No, we got 2 inches total .... 1.4 inch yesterday and .6 today.

Hey there, Kathy.
It’s finally cooled off a bit the past couple of days, much to our relief. Been wet too. No, the beans don’t need any more rain now .... they’re dead and drying up for harvest.
Sounds like y’all had a little yeeha up there. Must be a front moving through, like down here. There was a little lightning and thunder in the area but nothing wild. Other parts of TN had a rougher day though.
It’s breezy outside now and almost chilly. Feels kinda nice!
I wish the cams around Anchorage were livestream instead of just showing stills every minute or so. It would be neat to watch the clouds scuttle across the sky. There are some cool ones over the mountains.

Dang! You do have some hefty wind blowing.
ok, I pulled up the earth wind map and there’s a frontal line north of you and it’s sucking wind up to it from the south. Must be a hefty temperature difference on the two sides of the line. You’re on the warm side.

You are better than the local weather man....the wind settles down most all the way and then comes thru like a freight train. A very loud train!!
