Four years ago, 14-year-old Lizzie Lowe took her own life because she did not believe she would be accepted as a Christian who was also gay.
Since then her church, St James in Didsbury, Manchester, and its sister church Emmanuel, has formally become an inclusive church - embracing everyone, regardless of gender, race, disability or sexuality.
Lizzie's parents believe embracing inclusion could help save the lives of other teenagers.

So this church has embraced worshipping the sin of sodomy as a result. They’re jeopardizing the souls of all their parishioners by telling them continuing to engage in sinful behavior is acceptable in God’s eyes. Blasphemously evil and anti-Christian.
You are accepted in my church, but you will be told you are wrong, will never hold a leadership position, and will be kept from working with children.
She had way more problems than that.
Hate is anti-Christian as well.
We are all “accepted” as sinners - none more than me. We deal with the person, Jesus and the Holy Spirit deal with the sin. We all know this, but it sure is hard to put into practice. Holding up a standard none of us can meet - but has already been met for us by Jesus - that requires humility and an abundance of Love. I don’t have the answer, but changing the standard is no were on the list.
Not hatred of sin.
‘she did not believe she would be accepted as a Christian who was also gay.’
nonsense; in today’s Christian church she would be feted...
‘Not hatred of sin.’
what sin has anyone in this article committed...? I might argue that enabling someone in her mental disease is bad judgment, but criminal (or sinful, if you will), nope...
It’s assumed that the girl is sinning by “being gay.” I would say that “being” anything is not a sin. Being tall, being Chinese, being intelligent. “Being gay” is a little different, in that it identifies a particular avenue of potential sin or temptations to sin. However, that’s also true of being strong or being intelligent: those qualities bring with them certain types of temptation that the weak or slow-witted do not face.
If the 14-year-old in question was engaging in sexual activities with other females, that’s a sin ... although if the other party is an adult, the young girl is far more a victim of predation than a “sinner” in that particular respect.
homosexual social clubs
“Hate is anti-Christian as well.”
What exactly do you mean by that ?
Are you saying that not pro homosexual / anti Christian doctrine is Hate ?
(if that’s what you are saying, hate to be you)
“Not hatred of sin.”
Your post came across as hatred for her family and church community.
My sympathy goes to the family for the suicide of this disturbed young lady. The church’s decision that to deal with a disturbed soul is to jettison God’s word and embrace sodomy and place the souls of their parishioners in danger by rationalizing and worshipping sin is pure evil straight from Satan.
Sounds like a great idea for a church. Throw out the Scriptures because of one mentally ill teenage girl.
Because one should show love and affirmation for the minions of Satan and the sons of Sodom?
“””Because one should show love and affirmation for the minions of Satan and the sons of Sodom?”””
Or, we could stone them and throw them from roofs.
Of course no one would advocate that.
Rather, as to the spiritual leaders: "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin."
So if she killed herself after murdering another person, this church would deny one of the ten commandments?????
